How competitive is the Mercury Stakes market? When looking at the over-rounds for the last 17 renewals, the most competitive market was in 2014 when the race had an over-round of 116%. The race in 2019 was a race that was most in the bookie's favour with an over-round of 139%, whilst on average over the last 17 renewals of the Mercury Stakes, the over-round has been 125%, which means the bookie expects to pay out £100 for every £125 which is bet.

Below you will find the 2025 Mercury Stakes Trends. See which patterns have occurred over the recent renewals that you may be able to use for the next renewal. We also have a section that looks at the Mercury Stakes Trend Analysis.

These are the top three quickest-run Mercury Stakes races over the last 17 renewals:

  1. Caspian Prince (57.10) in 2016
  2. Balmont Mast (57.35) in 2012
  3. Nocturnal Affair (57.70) in 2011

Looking at the future form, is the winner worth following next time out? Over the past 17 renewals, if you had followed the winner of the Mercury Stakes next time out, then you would have backed a total of 0 winners. Backing all 17 runners who have been out since their win at SP next time out would have returned an LSP of -17.00. Whilst we wait for the 2025 Mercury Stakes, remember you can get daily racing predictions from the expert tipsters on the racing predictions page.

When looking over the past 17 renewals, a time of 57.10 was set by Caspian Prince in 2016, trained by Roger Fell and ridden by Declan McDonogh, which is the quickest time over that period. The slowest winning time was set in 2008 when Borderlescott won in a time of 59.10 for trainer Robin Bastiman, who booked Pat Cosgrave in the saddle.

What the expert says...
From the previous 17 renewals (2008-24), not a single winner of this race went on to win next time out. So approach future form with caution.
