Henry Cavill remains the 2/1 favourite to be the next James Bond
Henry Cavill remains the bookmakers favourite to be the next James Bond at 2/1 after producers hint at the next actor being 'thirty-something'.
Cavill, 39, just about fits that category and he may well replace Daniel Craig who left the role after the last Bond film No Time To Die.
William Hill keep Cavill as outright favourite at 2/1, Luke Evans and former favourite Regé-Jean Page just behind in the market.
Next James Bond | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
Henry Cavill | 2/1 | 33.3% |
Luke Evans | 4/1 | 20.0% |
Regé-Jean Page

4/1 | 20.0% |
Tom Hardy | 9/2 | 18.2% |
James Norton | 5/1 | 16.7% |
Luke Evans is a new addition towards the top of the betting market but at 43 years of age he doesn't exactly fit Bond producer Michael G Wilson's criteria.
Wilson said, “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past, but trying to visualise it doesn't work," when speaking at a recent Bond event at the BFI Southbank in London.
Former favourites Tom Hardy and Idris Elba may both miss out due to their age now
Tom Hardy and Idris Elba have both been betting favourites for the Bond role in recent months but now may both have been ruled out due to their age.
At ages 45 and 50 respectively, both Hardy and Elba could well now be out of the running when it comes to playing the famous British spy.
Hardy though still features in the betting market at 9/2, with bookies giving him an 18% chance of being the next Bond.

34 year old Regé-Jean Page stays around the top of the market
Regé-Jean Page has been favourite previously including being as short as 2/1 in September last year and he still features high up in the market.
Page now has a 20% chance of being the next Bond according to the betting odds compared to the 33% chance he had this time last year.
Daniel Craig had starred as James Bond for 15 years, making him the longest serving Bond of all time.
