Full BetTarget Bookmaker Review

BetTarget stands out for its deep coverage across many sports, including niche events like bandy, water polo, lacrosse, and extensive basketball and football markets, and is popular among bettors and the OLBG team, while its mobile-first interface and “no-frills, bet-smart” design make it uniquely accessible. It also offers a competitive welcome offer, plus strong ongoing acca combos and boosts.

Verification at BetTarget is smooth, with multiple payment options (debit cards, Visa, PayPal where eligible), customer support via live chat and email, and fast withdrawals for certain methods.

BetTarget is licensed under licence number 1014834, with a medium standard of customer fund segregation.

This review has been compiled by myself and the rest of the OLBG review team. Drawing on first-hand betting experience and in-depth market testing, I've evaluated, among other things, their event coverage, odds, payment speed, and licensing security to provide players with a balanced and trusted assessment.

Who are BetTarget?

Having launched in 2021, BetTarget has established itself within sports betting, building a reputation as a sportsbook that offers plenty of markets, and plenty of different sports, to bet on. It is an AG Communications brand, so there is plenty of muscle behind it.

First Impression of BetTarget

Luke Bradshaw Lee

My First Impressions

Bettors with other AG platforms will be familiar with the layout at BetTarget, it’s almost identical to mr.play, for example. I do prefer the colour and branding of BetTarget though as I think it delivers the huge tonne of information more coherently. A quick glance down the left-hand menu immediately tells you there is an absolute shedload to bet on here.

Live Betting

There is so much here, and most of it is very likeable. As mentioned above, the in-play markets are where you’re directed to from the off, something that is fairly normal across a lot of sportsbooks, and you can then navigate from there. There are some sports not featured here, snooker for example, which does suggest that the coverage isn’t quite as broad as I first thought, but there’s water polo covered, which is refreshing to see as there won’t be a lot of bookies doing the same.

Live Streaming

BetTarget doesn’t offer any live streaming at the time of this review.

Betting Odds

After looking through some alternative sportsbooks, as well as going through some comparison sites such as OddsChecker and similar, it seems as though that the odds offered at BetTarget are pretty good. We checked football, basketball and table tennis for in-play odds, plus horse racing, rugby and greyhounds for pre-match and ante post odds. They’re generally pretty competitive and, as a result of covering sports like lacrosse and cross country skiing, will have odds on events that other bookies simply don’t cover at all.

Betting App or Mobile Site

There’s no BetTarget app to use, which is disappointing because I really like some of their sister site apps – the mr.play app is brilliant, for example. I’m not entirely sure why there isn’t an app given that there are products and platforms that can be replicated. The mobile version works in much the same way as the desktop version, and it’s good, but I definitely prefer AG’s apps so it’s a shame that there isn’t one here.

Compare to the best betting apps in the country.

⚽ Football Betting

BetTarget nearly makes our best football betting sites, but they just miss out. The menu panel is telling me that there’s 1315 different games that I can bet on at this moment in time, and that’ll compete with anyone. The odds are good, but the really impressive thing is the market depth – each game that we went through boasted loads of markets to bet on, even for smaller games and leagues.

Bet Builder

There’s a bet builder option at BetTarget, and it’s okay, but could definitely be improved with some tweaks. I’d say it’s pretty standard, and if there were some more markets to add into builders they’d be more appealing. Generally market depth is a strength of BetTarget’s, so this surprises me, perhaps these will increase the closer we get to kick-off.

Bonuses

This is the most limited part of BetTarget’s product. There is a welcome bonus to take advantage of, but beyond that the only thing I can find is an odds boost on accas, called “Playboost”. If you place an acca with four legs or more at odds of more than 1.5 your wins will be boosted by up 77%. That’s a huge boost, bigger than most, but it’s actually broken down by the number of legs. A four leg acca is boosted by 4%, and it climbs until a 15-fold acca at 17%.

Cash Out

Cashout is a very important betting feature for punters these days so it's crucial that bookies integrate this feature into their mobile betting apps. BetTarget has done this well, allowing their customers to instantly cash out their bets on any device they like.

🏇 Horse Racing

The horse racing section at BetTarget is fine. There’s nothing really in the way of promotions, and not all meets are listed. For example, today there are four meets on in the UK (Kempton, Ludlow, Fairyhouse and Kempton), but only three are listed here, which does seem a bit odd. The actual odds are pretty good, but there’s no BOG (Best Odds Guaranteed), which is a real miss. See how they compare to our top 10 best betting sites for horse racing.

🇺🇸 US Sports Betting

A full range of American Sports is available. We’ll check out the major leagues, but also look into the sports further down the pyramid and, as well as across the globe.

🏈 American Football Betting

Unfortunately, BetTarget does something that is a real annoyance of mine when it comes to American football. When you see the event (a specific game), it only lists the winner and total. This is better than just displaying the result market, which some do, but what it really should show is three markets: spread, total and moneyline (result). If you're’ only going to show one, then make it the spread. You can see all these once you click through, but it’s not how bettors on these sports bet. That said, there are an absolute tonne of markets here, including next season’s outrights and NFL Draft markets, which is great to have. It’s worth checking out our best NFL betting sites to see how BetTarget compares.

🏀 Basketball Betting

Covering the NBA, WNBA, college hoops, Euro League, FIBA Champions League, as well as a few more, BetTarget has an exceptional basketball offering, with well over 230 different markets to choose from, making it one of the best basketball betting sites in the country. In fact, across all sports, its basketball odds are the most competitive that it offers and its live payouts are virtually identical to pre-match odds offered.

This is one of the best basketball betting sites in the country and you can see, in more detail, how it compares to other bookies.

⚾ Baseball Betting

The MLB, understandably, is a big part of BetTarget’s baseball betting, but they also have markets for the Japanese and South Korean leagues. The markets, and the odds, especially on the outrights, appear to be really good. The MLB season hasn’t quite started at the time of writing, but there is an impressive amount of markets here, such as individual awards and the like. Keep tabs on the top baseball betting sites though, to see if they make it onto our list.

🏒 Ice Hockey Betting

The NHL takes up the majority of real estate here, as one would expect. But there are also some Danish, Polish, and Kazakh fixtures included, among others. I selected an upcoming NHL game and there is a really impressive number of markets available – more than pretty most other sportsbooks I’d wager. For the lesser leagues that reduces a bit more, which makes sense. Overall, I think this is impressive from BetTarget

🐕 Greyhound Betting

BetTarget has a pretty safe greyhound section as part of its product. There’s the day’s meets, but also some ante post stuff. There isn’t a great deal beyond that, however, and unfortunately there is no live streaming or Best Odds Guaranteed, so it wouldn’t surprise me if greyhound bettors looked around in other places.

🎯 Darts Betting

Matthew Edgar

Matthew Edgar

- Your Darts Betting Guide 👍

Compared to the very darts betting sites in the country, BetTarget has some strengths and weaknesses. The outrights on future events are very good, but once you click through to the match ups, this then falls down a fair bit and there is no option for bet builders. Maybe they increase the market number and variety as it gets nearer to the time of the match, but I’d ideally like to see more earlier on.

Snooker Betting

Steve Madgwick

Steve Madgwick

Editor-In-Chief

As with the best snooker betting sites, there are markets for a couple of different competitions, including the World Championships and the Champions League. At the time of the review we’re in the middle of the latter, which I can’t live stream unfortunately, but I do like the amount of markets per match up that are on offer here, and generally the odds are pretty good.

🏉 Rugby Betting (Union & League)

By Luke Bradshaw Lee - This has pretty much every competition going – domestic and international – that I'd hope to wager on, which is brilliant. And that goes for rugby league as well as union. If I were being very picky it would be great to see the Japanese league here, given its emergence and big name players plying their trade there, but that is nit-picking because overall this is excellent event coverage. What lets it down, and seems different to other sports at BetTarget, is the market depth per game isn’t great. If there was more I’d absolutely see them making OLBG’s best rugby betting sites.

🏏 Cricket Betting

James Banting

James Banting

Expert Guide

If there were anything in the way of cricket promotions, or if the odds were a little better, I could see BetTarget being one of our Top 10 cricket betting sites. Overall, it’s pretty nice because BetTarget offers all the competitions that I’d expect to see, plus a few more on top of that – not everywhere covers the Oman D10 League, for example. And I do love how many markets are available here for each game, but the value here is just okay.

We list the best cricket betting sites here.

🎾 Tennis Betting

By James Banting - At the time I reviewed their tennis section, BetTarget had 317 different tennis games to bet on – that’s very impressive indeed. These games obviously cover the globe, Grand Slams right down to smaller Challenger events. The odds are fine, but there’s plenty of markets, including in-play markets. There’s no live streaming, but the stats that feature are pretty good. See if they make it into the top tennis betting sites on OLBG.

🏌️ Golf Betting

By James Banting - BetTarget’s golf offering is a tad disappointing. There are only markets for the majors and the Ryder Cup, and those are just basic outrights. There are a few smaller tournaments happening right now, or due to start soon, such as the Phoenix Open, Astara Championship or Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, and none of these are listed in any capacity. I’d like to see a good bit more for me to consider using them consistently.

🏎️ Motorsports Betting

Andy Powell

Andy Powell

Expert Guide

The motor sports section here is fine. Everything is it’s own thing, rather than housed under a “motor sports” banner, but I can see Formula 1, obviously, on top of Speedway and Indy racing. There’s nothing in the way of bikes, such as MotoGP, or any NASCAR, which is a little annoying, but, that said, I am impressed with the detail in the Formula 1 markets.

🥊 Boxing Betting

Frank Monkhouse

- Your Boxing Betting Guide 👍

There’s plenty of boxing bouts to get stuck into here, and the markets look dependent on how far in advance they are. Those this weekend and over the next few weeks have an okay offering, whereas the further away they get the less markets on offer. That’s fair enough, and I wouldn’t expect to find round by round and the like for fights that are months away, but I would definitely like more options for big fights happening this week, and that’s definitely limited based on my experience with BetTarget.

Other Sports Betting

Whilst these sports might sound very niche, there is a massive market for fans, and millions of them in the UK, so good coverage of niche sports and events is key to be reviewed on OLBG.

BetTarget offers extensive betting options for Handball, volleyball, cycling, AFL betting, and esports. Handball includes global competitions; volleyball, covers European Championships and various tournaments; cycling features future tours and current races; AFL betting has comprehensive stats and esports offers all major games like League of Legends and CS:GO.

🗳️ Political Betting

Nigel Skinner

Nigel Skinner

Expert Guide

BetTarget houses its political betting under “Specials”, along with entertainment. Their political betting is okay, but nothing special. There are some US Presidential markets, but not loads, and odds on the next Mayor of London, but it basically ends there. I’m surprised that there’s no UK General Election markets, or next Prime Minister odds, but for US stuff it’s not bad.

🎭 Entertainment and Specials Betting

Jake Ashton

Jake Ashton

- Your Betting Odds Guide 👍

This is fine from BetTarget, with some music, award ceremonies and TV programmes covered. It’s difficult trying to work out what determines the offering because things like The Oscars and BAFTAs make sense, but Big Brother Brazil and Festival Di SanRemo seem a little out of place.

Account Opening Process

A reassuringly easy process. At the top-right of the screen BetTarget has their “Join” button. Bettors just need to select this and follow the simple steps as guided through. You’ll be asked for the usual information – name, date of birth, address etc – and once complete be sent a verification email. Clicking this from your inbox will redirect you to the site, and then you’re free to get betting.

Navigation and user experience [desktop v mobile]

I mentioned earlier that BetTarget has no app, and that the main disappointment here is that other AP Communication brands have apps, and that they’re good. I actually don’t mind sportsbooks not having apps for the sake of it, especially if their product works well as a standard mobile version. That’s not the case here because I know that they do have very good apps. The mobile version of BetTarget is basically identical to the desktop version, and that’s absolutely fine, but it does feel like an opportunity missed.

Placing a bet

This section should only really highlight if there are issues, as the process is almost identical on every site. Within a few minutes of signing up to BetTarget I placed a couple of bets on different sports, one of which took advantage of the welcome offer, and I used their bet builder feature, which worked well.

Managing your account

As mentioned above, the design really helps this along. On the desktop version, it’s stuff to the  left of the screen. On the app, it’s all at the bottom, with just the login at the top. I haven’t experienced any issues logging in, or finding customer service options, either. Overall, it feels like BetTarget has got this part nailed.
