Top Golf Betting Sites and Why

These are the best bookmakers in the country in regards to golf. We’ve considered everything so you don’t have to. Where their overall score is the same, we have placed them in order of their OLBG user rating.

BetFred

Although there is a bit of  drop off from Stars to BetFred, the overall golf product put out by BetFred is still exceptional. They can’t match Star Sports for the events or markets on offer, or the stats that they put together (no one can), but their odds are quite a bit better. If you’re just after value, as opposed to an overall betting experience, then this is perhaps a better option. On top of that they also offer great golf promotions and don’t be surprised to see them paying out for 10 places in plenty of events.

Pros

  • Some of the best golf odds available in the UK.
  • Great for golf promotions.
  • Really good option for in-play betting on golf.

Cons

  • Not as long EW terms for majors as others in this list.

Coral

The caveat for Coral is that generally the odds aren’t great for golf, but that does highlight how good the rest of the product is if it makes it so high on this list. This bookie also has amazing event coverage and market depth, but what really makes up for the lack of value in odds is that it has huge each way terms for most events, up to 10 places even outside of the majors, compared to five or six places, which is what most other bookmakers offer.

Pros

  • Fantastic event coverage across the multiple tours.
  • The best place to go for EW terms and extra places, especially for the majors.

Cons

  • Nothing in the way of supporting statistics.
  • Odds not as great as others in this list.

bet365

You can almost use bet365 like a golf calendar because if there is a golf event being played somewhere then bet365 will almost certainly have odds on it. Overall, they probably have the best event coverage out of everyone, and the same goes for the sheer number of markets per event, meaning that you can bet on a huge variety of different things regardless of the size of competition. They do offer odds boosts, but generally the odds aren’t great and each way terms can be a bit limited compared to some others on this list.

Pros

  • Plenty of odds boosts.
  • Some of the best markets available per golf competition.

Cons

  • Not great for pre-competition statisitics.

SpreadEX

Unsurprisingly, you’ll get unbelievable odds at SpreadEX, and that's even when you select their fixed odds markets, not just their spreads. You’ll also get more markets per event than most other other bookies. A couple of nice features on their site (and app) is the ease and speed in which you can see how many markets there are and the fact that it tells you where you can watch competitions if they are being shown, Sky Sports, BBC etc, for example.

Pros

  • Huge range of markets.
  • Option of fixed odds and spread betting.
  • Among the bet golf odds in the UK.

Cons

  • Very little in the way of promotions.

BoyleSports

BoyleSports is another bookmaker that makes up for fairly standard odds by offering everything else at a high standard. That means plenty of promotions on various golf tournaments, as well as an enormous number of markets to bet on for each competition. The in-play betting isn’t anything that will blow you away on a product level, but there are definitely more in-play markets here than most other bookmakers.

Pros

  • Really good option for EW terms in major competitions.
  • Huge market depth, across most events.

Cons

  • Not a great option for in-play golf betting.

QuinnBet

This is a bit of an anomaly in the top 10 because the number of markets on offer at QuinnBet isn’t brilliant to be honest. There are plenty of events covered, but the markets within those events aren’t loaded. That said, for the markets that QuinnBet does cover, the odds are fantastic and among the best in the country, and that’s topped up with brilliant promotions, with golf-specific ones as well as general ones that can be applied to your golf betting.

Pros

  • Fantastic golf odds.
  • A great option for golf promotions, or general promotions that can be used on golf markets.

Cons

  • Not as many markets per competition as others in the Top 10.

William Hill

Rounding off our top 10 is William Hill – a good, solid option for betting on golf across the board. In fact, William Hill doesn’t score top marks for any aspect, but they score above average in pretty much every regard. So, with that in mind, you may not head directly to Wills to open an account just to place a golf bet, but if you like them for other things it’s definitely worth staying there for your golf betting, too. There’s no huge need to hunt around elsewhere. They pay eight places on competitions, have great promotions and plenty of events covered.

Pros

  • Decent all-round option that covers all the bases.
  • Decent number of promotions.

Cons

  • Good odds for golf, but not excellent.
  • No golf statistics available.

Also consider...

While it doesn't make the Top 10 list here, we have to mention AK BETS. Factoring in different aspects of a betting product (promotions, each way terms etc.) means that they don't make it, but we have to mention their odds. AK BETS regularly has the best golf odds in the industry (aside from exchange betting). If getting the single best price is is sole interest, then it's worth heading there first.

Best golf betting site for odds?

Golf odds tend to vary from bookmaker to bookmaker and finding the best odds for your golf bet won't necessarily be from the same bookmaker each time you place a bet. Golf odds will generally be pretty similar across all bookmakers and the small fluctuations will be down to the discretion of the bookmakers' traders. That said, there are still some bookmakers that offer more value across the board over the course of the golfing season.

Below are the 11 bookmakers that score top marks for odds. This takes into account the best prices that you'll get for different players in a single tournament, repeats that process across multiple tournaments, and then factors in how many tournaments are included, to give you a broader idea of how regularly a particular bookmaker is offering good odds. We feel this is a far more accurate method than simply checking odds at the beginning of one of the majors when bookies know the focus is increased.

Best golf betting site for each way terms?

You tend to see more variations in each way terms for golf betting than any other sport. The standard each way terms for a golf event with most bookies are 4 places 1/4 odds (or 5 places 1/4 odds for the bigger events) but some bookies will pay as many as 7 places 1/5 odds for many events, and on a few occasions will pay even more places than that.

Bet too far in advance though and you'll receive the same each way terms amongst all the bookies. They usually start to adjust their each-way terms to stand out from the crowd a week or two before the event begins.

You can check comprehensive bookmaker reviews from all the major firms on OLBG.

These bookmakers tend to offer the most generous place terms on golf events:

Best golf betting site for event coverage?

All bookies will cover all of the bigger events and majors. In the event that an event isn't covered by traditional bookmakers you should check betting exchange sites.

Aside from exchange betting, overall, bet365 has the best for event coverage. If you are looking to place a bet on a tournament that is fairly niche then these are probably your best ports of call. If they don't have markets listed for said events then there is a good chance that those markets simply don't exist or are available in Ireland. That said, these are the best bookies in the country for event coverage so it is worth scanning through them.

Best golf betting site for stats?

Compared to other sports – particularly football and tennis – the number of Irish bookmakers offering supporting statistics, to both in-play and pre-match golf betting, is pretty limited. In fact, across the board of all the bookies that we tested and reviewed less than 10% actually do so.

A few offer a pretty standard product, but the likes of Parimatch, BetFred, BetVictor and talkSPORT BET have really good stats and info. Those are great, but Star Sports, who top our overall table, have outstanding golf betting statistics, with videos of players playing the course, hole-by-hole information, plus interesting infographics about how the course suits different types of golfer. It really is exceptional and well worth checking out.

How To Choose The Best Golf Betting Site For You

If you're on the hunt for a new golf betting site, there are several crucial elements you should consider to ensure a top-notch betting experience:

Key Factors to Evaluate:

  • Trustworthy
  • Reliable
  • Low Risk
  • Reputable
  • Player Friendly With Their Terms and Conditions
  • Everything Else You Want!

🔒 Trustworthy

With over 80 online bookmakers licensed in Ireland, we only list those vetted by the Ireland Gambling Commission and good for golf in our bookmakers guide. Betting with non-licensed bookmakers offering golf betting can be risky and may lead to complications in case of disputes. For your peace of mind, always check if a betting site holds a valid license through the Gambling Commission website.

✅ Reliable

Not all licensed golf bookmakers meet our reliability criteria. We exclude those with a track record of pending payments, shifting terms and conditions, and poor customer service. While we highlight these issues in our reviews, the worst offenders don’t make our list.

🟢 Low Risk

Small, new companies in the Irish market may pose higher risks due to potential cash flow issues. However, if they are Ireland Gambling Commission-registered, they must meet financial solvency criteria. Larger, more established companies typically present lower risks. While it's rare for bookmakers to close without honouring bets, choosing established operators for long-term (ante-post) wagers is advisable. Diversifying your bets across multiple bookmakers can also mitigate risk.

🌟 Reputable

Reputation is best gauged through user experiences. We gather over 500 user reviews from the OLBG community to offer detailed insights into various Irish betting sites. These reviews cover customer service experiences and how disputes were resolved.

👥 Player-Friendly Terms and Conditions

We meticulously analyse each betting site's terms and conditions, withdrawal policies, and deposit terms. Some sites may impose charges for certain transactions or inactivity, so it's crucial to be well-informed. Our community reviews and research highlight these details to ensure you get fair terms.

Tips for Choosing Your Next Golf Betting Site:

  • Minimum Deposit Requirements: Always check the minimum amount you need to deposit to activate your account.
  • Deposit and Withdrawal Methods: Ensure the site supports convenient payment methods for you.
  • Withdrawal Policies: Look for any fees associated with withdrawals.
  • Betting Rules: Understand the minimum bet amount, maximum winnings, and specific rules for voided bets.

If you're content with your current bookmaker but want a change, or you must provide proof of affordability and are looking for alternatives, we have recommendations for similar sites.

Similar Sites to Your Current Golf Bookmaker:

  1. William Hill: Consider Ladbrokes or Betfred for a similar experience.
  2. Matchbook or Smarkets are great alternatives for betting exchanges; bet365 or BetVictor for fixed odds.
  3. Ladbrokes: William Hill is a reputable choice.
  4. bet365: BetVictor offers a similar range of markets and in-play betting.

Our guides and reviews are filled with information to help you choose the best golf betting site for your needs. If you prefer exploring various sites, take advantage of welcome offers, but always read the terms and conditions.
