First Impression of BetDex Sports

Luke Bradshaw Lee

My First Impressions

This is a very simple, easy-to-follow platform. The big difference is obviously the different prices (to back and lay), but if you’re used to seeing that, as with other exchange sites, then everything else will be very obvious. There is nothing in the way of offers, adverts, promos or the likes – just the markets to bet on, which is very refreshing to see. It’s all business here.

Live Betting

If there is an event going on you can be sure to find it on BetDex - This section of the review was undertaken on a Tuesday morning, and there was tennis [US OPEN] taking place with a huge range of markets across the ongoing games taking place.

Live Streaming

You'll find no live streaming on the BetDex platform at the time of the review. Perhaps something that would be a beneficial addition to match the likes of Betfair down the line.

Betting Odds

As with all exchanges the odds are determined by those on offer from other players. In the main, this generally means that you will get better odds than fixed odds sportsbooks, but have to factor in the commission on net profits - The one benefit of BetDex which is instantly apparent is the lower 3% commission fee applied.

What is Exchange Betting?

With a standard bookie you are taking a bet from the house (the bookie in question), but with exchange betting you are betting with other bettors, and use the betting exchange as a platform where two bets are brokered. You can back a bet, or lay a bet, with different prices for each. The “lay” is more like a traditional bet with a bookie, so with exchange betting (and this is simplifying it somewhat) you can place a bet, or be the bookmaker. To find out more, and digest in more detail, head to our Betting Exchange Guide.

⚽ Football Betting

We rank every bookie, at every sport, and BetDEX is a bit off our best football betting sites in the UK. That’s not to say that it’s not good, but it’s a more a case of the odds not making up quite enough when you factor in other aspects of a bookie – event coverage, promotions, betting features such as Early Payout of Acca Insurance. There are a lot of competitions covered around the world, but it’s not a lot compared to some of the big boys (or even the smaller bookies, to be honest). That said, if you just want to get the best odds on specific markets, this is where you come.

Bet Builder

Bet builders are not applicable to betting exchanges. if this is something you are specifically looking for, I would suggest looking at some other bet builder sites.

Cash Out

Cash out is always on with BetDex, but of course not in the method you will find with fixed odds betting sites. Here you have the option to trade out of your bets in the normal manner afforded to exchange bettors, and which of course was the seed of the process for mainstream bookmakers to create the cash out facility.

🏇 Horse Racing

🏇 No Horse Racing Options 🏇

Despite a wide range of sports on BetDex, Horse racing is not currently included. Given the limited audience and, therefore, market liquidity available at present, this may remain the case for some time, if there are even plans to include it at all.

There is currently no horse racing betting options on BetDex. If you are looking for a new bookmaker for horse racing then may we suggest on of these horse racing betting sites.

🇺🇸 US Sports Betting

BetDEX offers betting on a couple of major league sports.

🏈 American Football Betting

Albeit this review is undertaken prior to the NFL season beginning, there were some college football events with coverage. By the same token, there was not a single cent in the market for trading, so return and fresh review once the NFL season is up and running would seem prudent to see if interest picks up

🏀 Basketball Betting

Of the four major American sports, it’s definitely basketball that BetDEX covers the best. As well as the NBA and college hoops, there is the FIBA World Cup, EUROLEAGUE and the Olympics. There is nothing in the way of domestic competitions outside of the United States, but this isn’t a bad list of competitions. You can also compare BetDEX to the best basketball betting sites.

🏀 Baseball Betting

Happy to find some baseball betting from the MLB available with 15 games listed. Liquidity was fairly low, but the odds are there nonetheless.

🏒 Ice Hockey

The NHL is the only option for ice hockey betting, with puck lines, totals and match results markets the options to bet on. It’s worth checking out our best NHL betting sites to see how BetDEX compares.

🎾 Tennis Betting

By James Banting

With the US Open taking place whilst creating this review of BetDex, it was good to see a significant number of matches covered, all by the looks of things, and good liquidity n the market despite the fact we are still on the early round match ups. Interest looked to be significant in both the men's and women competitions.

🏌️ Golf Betting

This is pretty odd, all things being considered. It’s clear that BetDEX don’t cover all sports, or even have wide coverage of the sports that they do, but for gold you’d expect the majors to be here, maybe even only the majors. Instead you can bet on The Ryder Cup, Scottish Open and BMW PGA Championship. It’s worth checking our best golf betting sites to see how BetDEX compares.

Other Sports Betting

BetDEX offers betting options for MMA and esports. The esports options are actually very well covered, with markets for nearly 20 different game titles including Counter Strike:GO, DOTA and League of Legends.

Navigation and user experience

The overall design is intuitive if you are familiar with how a betting exchange works. The menu is simple to find the sport and market you wish to partake in, and with fewer event to consider, moving around is pretty quick too.

Placing a bet

If you are familiar with exchange betting already, you will understand the process, of choosing a price and either taking on or placing an order to await matching on either side of the market. The betslip is simple and informative providing information on potential profit, or risk as per the bet you place.
