The highlight of the Pontefract racecourse racing calendar is the Listed Silver Tankard Stakes, which is scheduled to take place in October of each year.

A Class 1 race is run over a trip of one mile and six yards, which is open to two-year-old runners only and is run on the last fixture of the flat season at Pontefract.
