Qirat has gone up the weights for finishing 2nd in two competitive handicaps at the end of last season. Both came off proper soft ground, and I think a return to a quicker surface, as well as 7f, will suit him best. He won on reappearance last year and boasts plenty of Ascot form. All the pace looks high, but it should give him a good tow into the race from stall 9, and he can claim this from a mark of 99 before moving onto pattern company as a 4yo.

Popmaster is due a well deserved win and he has found an excellent opportunity to get his head in front here this 19 horse class 2 handicap is obviously competitive however it is an assignment that will suit Popmaster very well and he does well in these big field scenarios was last seen at Newcastle 22 days ago where finishing a respectable 5th/15 with his mark continuing to ease he is now operating on a mark of 98 and Ed Walker's inmate can make his presence strongly felt of this sort of mark and he turn to strike is near in very good time jockey Jack Doughty takes off a handy 3lb which only enhances his good looking claims here worth the E/W shout with some firms offering more than 4 places if you shop around
