There's an argument to say that the 3-year-old form from last year doesn't look top-notch, and they tend to be focused around the top of the market. Quddwah and Docklands both look overpriced, having shown strong form here previously, but preference is for the latter, who has a similar profile to former winner of this, Lord Glitters. He was 2nd in this race last year behind Charyn, and that rival did prove himself top class, whilst his Ascot form reads 1-1-3-2-2-2, all runs over C&D. Ran well on reappearance to finish a close 2nd behind Sardinian Warrior and then undone by the camber at Epsom last time when looking the winner. Quick ground will suit, and with this being the first race of the meeting, there should be a good pace on offer.

A bit of a flier in the Coventry, but Kolkata Knight couldn't have been more impressive on debut, winning by 5L. With the second scoring since, there's some substance to that run. I like a horse ridden prominently here in the 2yo races as it removes the uncertainty of coming through a big field of inexperienced juveniles. I think the fact he's on the opposite side of the draw to the market principals could also be a positive should a draw bias become clear (stall 6 and under have won 4 of the last 6 runnings). The trainer has previous in 2yo races here, having trained a Queen Mary winner, and I think KK looks overpriced in a race which has seen big-priced winners pop up.

Asfoora won this by 1L last year under an enterprising run by Oisin Murphy, tucking in from a wide draw to win going away. Things should be simpler this time from stall 10, and with the two Wathnam horses likely to go forward from stalls 7 & 9 she looks ideally placed to double up under similarly quick conditions.

Ran really well on reappearance behind a couple of Group horses last time. Not given a hard time of things when also having two of today's rivals ahead of him. He's 3 lbs better off with those horses today and the hood goes back on, suggesting this has been a long-term plan for connections who won this last year and a stable who have won it twice since 2020. Still lightly raced after just 8 turf starts, and the form of his Listed 0.5L 2nd when trying to give subsequent 2x Group 3 winner Persica 5 lbs in the autumn also reads well. Will love this trip and quick conditions - massive chance.
