The 5yo showed useful hurdle form in his last campaign: 23212. He returned from an eight-month break earlier in the month and won a decent-looking 11-runner Class 2 handicap by a huge 27L, posting a big RPR. He’s taken a hike in the weights, but he’s worth keeping on your side in this handicap until we find out how far his improvement takes him.

The 6yo has four wins from four over hurdles, with two Grade 1 wins already to his name. He should be fine on his return from a break for this Grade 1 contest, with the Skelton yard in great shape. 'C Hill' is an 8yo now and had two falls and a wide-margin defeat in the spring. The Mullins runner hasn’t beaten much so far in his career and still has to prove himself.

The 4yo is useful on the flat and has a good 92 rating. Just four starts over hurdles, form 2144. His last hurdle run was back in March at the Festival, a 22-runner Grade 3 juvenile hurdle, and he was involved in a three-way photo for the runner-up spot. The winner has gone on to good things since. A flat run three weeks ago, after a six-month break, should have him sharper now. Every chance in this handicap off his current rating, and he looks underestimated.

Not too many miles on the clock for the 9yo. First or second in eight runs over hurdles. Decent run four weeks ago after coming off an eight-month break and should be sharper today. A strong jockey is booked for the ride. The selection won off his current mark earlier in the year, and his five rivals today are not the strongest looking.

The 7-year-old has plenty of ability, rated a useful 96 on the flat. He has 2 wins from 5 over hurdles. He was only beaten 4 lengths in a handicap hurdle three weeks ago and is in good shape. Still on a handy mark, and a good apprentice is in the saddle claiming 3 lb today.

The selection was a good third in this £142K handicap chase last year, not doing himself any favours that day with some below-par jumping. He is only slightly higher in the weights now and has won two from four races since. He can return stronger after a seven-month break and has no problem with the soft ground. He is only a 7yo, and we might not have seen the best of him yet.

The 6yo was progressive over hurdles early last year. He went chasing on his return last winter, form 1132. He was 2nd of 12 in a useful-looking Irish handicap chase when last seen. The smart winner that day was raised 13 lb in the weights. He’s returning from a seven-month break, and his current handicap mark of 126 looks attractive. He’s young enough to progress again over fences. One or two question marks remain against some of these rivals.

The 8-year-old is useful on his day, with four wins over fences. Five weeks ago he was beaten just over a length on his return from a five-month break and was well clear of the rest. The winner that day was a very impressive wide-margin winner on Friday at Newbury.
