The 5-year-old has 1 win from 5 on the Flat, all runs on the AW. The form of his win last month looks solid. I like the fact that he has run in three turf bumper races and has finished a very close runner-up each time. The switch to this turf Flat race could produce a big improved run from him. Good jockey booking.

Just five starts over hurdles for the 7-year-old. He was a close 4th of 16 in a decent maiden hurdle seven weeks ago ??' just losing out at the finish. That was only his second start after more than a year off the track, so it’s something to build on. He’s on a handy handicap mark and is proven on this better ground.

Four career runs for the 3yo. He won on his debut last year so he should be fine returning from a winter break, hopefully with more improvement. Excuses when last seen. He's best judged on his second start, beaten just 2L in a 10 runner Group 2 contest, the four runners around him that day are now rated 104, 105, 110 and 118. His mark of 100 in this handicap contest should give him a chance.

Four runs for the 7yo in this campaign, runner-up twice. Beaten by a progressive type last time out who had no weight on his back, but the selection did finish 21 lengths clear of the rest. He'll be fresh after a seven-week break. No problem with the 30f trip, and top jockey Sean Bowen takes over in the saddle.

Some useful runs from the 4-year-old last year, winning a strong Group 3 contest last August. No penalty for this Group 3 race. Ryan Moore is booked for the ride. He's coming off a winter break, but the trainer has had 10 winners for a 28% strike rate in the last two weeks. I feel his two main rivals would prefer a slower surface.

A quality six-runner field for this Group 2 contest, all with similar high ratings. I like that the selection won a Group 1 contest in Meydan thirteen weeks ago and has continued his progress. William Buick is in the saddle. His five rivals haven't raced since last autumn, and they’ll be more tuned up for bigger races in the future.

This 4yo has three wins from four over hurdles. Being twice a winner on good ground is positive. He was an easy 10L winner of a novice stakes two weeks ago ??' a nice prep for this £51K handicap prize. He was a very close third in a juvenile Grade 3 in his previous race. The first and fourth have both run well twice at Grade 1 level since, earning high ratings. The selection has an attractive opening handicap mark.

The 4yo was progressive last year, winning three times on good/form ground ??' the forecast going is good/form. Still on a handy mark based on his RPR ratings. Two runs this spring should put him on top of his game. He was not disgraced in a strong Group 3 contest last time out. Much calmer waters now in this handicap.

The 8-year-old has 5 wins from 11 over fences. Just two runs since last May, and he will have plenty of freshness about him. He posted a high RPR rating three weeks ago??'a narrow handicap defeat off a high racing mark. Harry Cobden now takes over in the saddle. He loves the quicker ground and is rated to go well in this Grade 2 chase.

Lightly raced 4yo, 3 wins from 9 on turf. In good shape, a close 3rd in a decent Listed contest four weeks ago, and posting a big RPR rating. He can build on that run. Strong jockey booking and on a winnable handicap mark.

This 8-year-old has three Grade 1 wins on his CV and can add another with a win in this race. He will be fresh after just three runs this campaign, and in two of those races he has posted career-high RPR ratings and might not have reached his peak yet. Jonbon has had four hard Grade 1 races this year and is a 10-year-old now. Questions about Thistle Ask, who missed Cheltenham and Aintree.

Hopefully a six-week break will be enough recovery time for the 8yo who ran a big race in the Midlands National last time out, finishing 2nd of 16 that day. The fourth home was tailed off, and only five finished the race. The 1st and 3rd both ran a big race in the recent Scottish National. Same mark for this handicap and no problem with the 28.5f trip. He posted a career-high JT RPR rating during November when winning a decent handicap by 11L, which is positive as the win came on good ground.
