  • Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon in Northern Ireland second favourite in the market at 100/30
  • Coventry is the current City of Culture and was announced as that back in 2017, with the 2025 City of Culture expected to be announced in May this year

Stirling favourite to be the 2025 City of Culture

Betting on the UK City of Culture is warming up with some recent movement and Scottish city Stirling is the 11/4 bookmakers favourite with the announcement set to take place in the coming months.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon follows just behind Stirling in the betting with the Northern Irish district looking to be the second place from the country to be City of Culture.

Derry were the inaugural winners back in 2013, being the first ever City of Culture beating Birmingham, Norwich and Sheffield to winning the award.

City of Culture 2022 Cities Odds Probability
Stirling 11/4 26.7%
Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon
100/30 23.1%
Southampton 5/1 16.7%
County Durham 6/1 14.3%
Wrexham County Borough 6/1 14.3%
Bradford 13/2 13.3%
Cornwall 8/1 11.1%
Derby 8/1 11.1%

Wrexham could see the City of Culture head to Wales and with odds of 6/1 it's joint 4th favourite in the market that that's the case.

Stirling is the favourite to be the UK City of Culture in 2025, with the Scottish City 11/4 with bookmakers to be awarded the crown in May.

Coventry the 2021 UK City of Culture

Coventry is the current City of Culture after being awarded the accolade back in December of 2017.

According to Arts Minister John Glen, the win was "an incredible opportunity for Coventry to boost investment in the local economy, grow tourism and put arts and culture centre stage".

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Coventry's reign began in May 2021 and was boosted by more than £15.5m in government support.

A further £100m has been raised to help further the City of Culture's year and Art events among the City will strengthen this even more.

The massive positive affect that Coventry being awarded City of Culture achieved has made other places across the UK want a similar outcome. Various Cities and towns across all of the countries in the UK are on the shortlist.
