Beth Mead is now the 11/4 favourite with bookmakers to win the Sports Personality of the Year award

England Lioness star Beth Mead is now the 11/4 favourite with bookies to win this year's Sports Personality of the Year award after last night's 4-0 victory over Sweden.

Mead got a goal and two assists in the game which saw England get to the final of this year's European Championship and continued her fantastic run at the tournament.

William Hill have instantly made Mead the favourite to win the SPOTY award, coming in from the 7/1 that she was on Monday.

Sports Personality of the Year Winner Odds Probability
Beth Mead 11/4 26.7%
Ronnie O'Sullivan
7/2 22.2%
Jake Wightman 9/1 10.0%
Harry Kane 10/1 9.1%
Matt Fitzpatrick 12/1 7.7%

Fellow Footballer Harry Kane features in the SPORT betting market and a massive World Cup could well see him become one of the favourites.

Any of that England team having a big World Cup would see them come into the market at short odds so it's definitely one to keep an eye on.

Beth Mead is now the bookies favourite to win the Sports Personality of the Year award at odds of 11/4, putting her just ahead of Snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan in the betting market.

Ronnie O'Sullivan now out to second favourite to win the award with bookmakers at 3/1

Ronnie O'Sullivan is now out to 7/2 second favourite to win the award with bookmakers after his World Snooker Championship win back in May.

The Rocket won 18-13 against Judd Trump to win a modern-era equalling record 7th Championship at the big event.

This instantly made bookmakers put O'Sullivan as the 11/4 favourite to win the SPOTY award which he has never won before despite his popularity.

Beth Mead's performances at the European Championship this Summer though has seen the Lionesses star eclipse O'Sullivan in the betting odds.

Seven months between the World Snooker Championship and the SPOTY awards may mean that the voting public will have more of a memory of a more recent sportsperson's accomplishment.

Jake Wightman was the new entrant to the market and he's drifted slightly in the betting

Jake Wightman was added to the betting market to win the SPOTY award last week after his 1500m World Title win last week.

The runner was installed at 6/1 to win the award but has since drifted to 9/1 in the last couple of days due to Beth Mead's popularity growing.

Wightman became the first British man to win the world 1500m title since Steve Cram in 1983 and is set to race in this summer's Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games opening ceremony is set for this Thursday and more betting markets will be available for the ceremony as the days go on.

Jake Wightman has drifted from 6/1 to 9/1 to win this year's Sports Personality of the Year award after his historic 1500m World Title victory in Oregon last week. Beth Mead's market move has seen a big change in the betting.
