Pope Francis spent a "few days" in hospital last month due to respiratory infection

Current Pope, Pope Francis, had to spend a "few days" in hospital towards the end of March due to a respiratory infection according to a statement from the Vatican.

The 86-year-old has appeared in good spirits since and spoke in St. Peter's Square on Wednesday to take a pop at 'keyboard warriors' according to the Catholic News Agency.

Pope Leo XIII is the oldest Pope holding office, remaining in the position up until his death at the age of 93.
