  • Sam Ryder will be the UK's entrant to this year's Eurovision with his song Space Man
  • Ukraine remain 11/8 favourites to win the whole thing, after being backed in over the last couple of months

UK features at 7th in the odds to finish in the Top 10

The Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in two months time in May, with the showpiece event held in Italy this year.

The UK struggled yet again at last year's event, with James Newman finishing in last place with nul points.

Sam Ryder and the UK this year are 7th in the odds with bookmakers to finish in the top 10 at this year's show.

Eurovision 2022: Finish in the Top 10  Decimal Odds Percentage Odds
Italy 1.05 95.24%
Ukraine 1.13 88.50%
Sweden 1.2 83.33%
Norway 1.6 62.50%
Poland 1.61 62.11%
Netherlands 1.62 61.73%
United Kingdom 1.67 59.88%
Greece 1.83 54.64%

Italy are favourites to finish in the Top 10, but aren't outright favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest this year.

The Italians won the event last year through rockers Maneskin, meaning that they are hosting this year's event.

Mahmood & Blanco will be their entrant this year with their ballad "Brividi" looking to win the show again for them.

The UK feature in the odds to finish Top 10 in at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, with their entrant Sam Ryder 7th favourite to finish Top 10 according to bookies. They're 4th favourite though to win the whole thing at odds of 14/1.

Sam Ryder will be the UK's entrant this year

The UK are looking to do better than last year's nul points and have chosen Sam Ryder as the man to change that.

Realistically he can't do worse than last year's showing, with James Newman finishing last without a single point.

Ryder is a TikTok star with his singing videos going viral over the last year, with 12.1 million followers on the social media platform.

At the time of this story, Ryder has 98.1m likes on his videos, so his popularity on the platform may help him this year.

His song Space Man has 1.3m views on YouTube for the official music video.

Ukraine remain 11/8 favourites to win the Song Contest

Ukraine are the 11/8 favourites to win this year's Eurovision Song Contest, with Italy just behind them in the betting market.

The Ukrainian entrant was backed into 11/8 following the invasion of the country by Russia, with Europe set to get behind them in this event.

Kalush Orchestra will sing Ukraine's song this year with 'Stefania' aimed at the mothers of Ukraine.

Eurovision 2022 Winner  Odds Probability
Ukraine 11/8 42.1%
Italy 10/3 23.1%
Sweden 5/1 16.7%
United Kingdom 14/1 6.7%
Greece 14/1 6.7%
Poland 22/1 4.3%

The UK have gone into 4th favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest this year with odds of 14/1 to win the event.

Italy are 10/3 to win back-to-back Eurovision's and they could well do so with the Italian entrant heavy favourites before the Ukrainian/Russian war.

Ukraine are the bookies favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest this year at odds of 11/8. Ukraine were backed in drastically after the invasion of the country by Russia in February.
