Eurovision 2026 Betting Preview: Sweden Early Favourite Ahead of Vienna Showpiece

The countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is officially on, with next year’s edition set for Vienna, Austria, following JJ’s victory with Wasted Love earlier this year.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Austrian broadcaster ORF confirmed Vienna as the host city on 20 August and attention now turns to who might take the crown in the world’s most-watched music competition.

As always, Sweden head into the market as the betting favourites, with bookmakers making them 2/1 to extend their incredible Eurovision legacy.

They currently share the record for most wins with Ireland and will be aiming to take the outright lead with another victory in 2026.

Sweden Start Favourite Again

Eurovision and Sweden go hand in hand.

From ABBA’s iconic win with Waterloo in 1974 to Loreen’s multiple triumphs, the Scandinavian powerhouse has consistently been the country to beat.

Their entry for 2026 is yet to be revealed, but punters will not be surprised to see them sitting at the top of the market at 2/1.

Italy, Ukraine & Netherlands Among Main Challengers

Italy and Ukraine, both 3/1, are expected to push Sweden closest.

Italy’s recent Eurovision record has been strong, with MĂĄneskin’s 2021 victory still fresh in fans’ minds.

Ukraine, meanwhile, remain perennial contenders with their loyal voting base and consistent song quality.

The Netherlands sit just behind at 4/1, while hosts Austria are 6/1 to defend their crown with another strong home entry.

What the expert says...
It’s no surprise to see Sweden head the Eurovision market at 2/1 as they’ve been remarkably consistent in producing polished performances. However, punters should keep an eye on Ukraine at 3/1, given their strong fanbase and track record of making the top five regardless of the political backdrop.
