Crown Betting Odds

The Crown is one of the most popular shows on Netflix, now in its 4th season viewers are hooked on the recreated trials and tribulations of the Royal family.

It is expected that in total there will be six seasons of this historical drama and this has fuelled speculation (and online betting) that royals both major and minor may play themselves in a future season.

Bookmakers Paddy Power as is their want have created a betting market called “To Play Themselves In A Future Series”.

Their Crown Betting market features the following contenders with their betting odds.

To snap up any early royal value on the Crown please visit Paddy Power and head to their Special Bets Section.

Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Odds To Play Themselves in The Crown

The couple recently signed a huge Netflix deal after stepping down in 2020 from Royal Duties.

We know Meghan can act, she is best known for playing Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits

Harry, we are less sure about his talent on the small screen.

However the couple does look in pole position, it may well be a nonspeaking part in the first instance, to gauge reaction at Buckingham Palace and on Fleet Street.

The couple live in an £11m Montecito mansion but one of the favourite's in the betting market was for them to move back to the UK permanently at some point. The outsiders in the betting market revolved around Markle's acting career including appearing in the Netflix series 'The Crown'.

Pippa Middleton Odds to Appear in The Crown

Sister to Kate Middleton, who is married to second in line to the throne Prince William.

Pippa is the author of party planning book "Celebrate" and a regular newspaper columnist.

The sisterly rivalry may tempt Pippa to consider a Crown appearance, think what you may do to outshine your older brother/sister.

After her appearance at William and Kate's wedding where her bum received lots of tabloid attention if she did appear, there may be lots of tracking shots of her walking away from the camera.

Paul Burrell Odds to Act Himself in The Crown

Former butler to Lady Diana, Paul Burrell is a regular on our television.

Author of A Royal Duty the book chronicled his time as a member of the Buckingham Palace and Kensington Gardens royal staff.

He is always wheeled out to make a scathing/controversial/nothing comment in relation to royal matters.

If not appearing as himself, is likely to play a rock.

Sarah Ferguson - Duchess Of York Odds to Act Herself in The Crown

Of all the connected royals she could be seen to be most receptive to media employment opportunities.

Sarah Duchess of York has appeared on Celebrity Apprentice and Friends as herself, if Netflix did call we think she may accept.

Tony Blair

The former very popular Prime Minister is now seen by some as a statesman offering sage advice to countries, and to others as a politician whose time has thankfully gone.

Was always a good communicator but maybe a bit wooden in a drama series.

TV appearances in The Simpsons and The Catherine Tate Show were inconclusive on his suitability for The Crown.

Prince William

Less controversial than his brother, he may be the Royal Family’s trump card in securing and maintaining the love of the British people for the monarchy.

An appearance in the Crown I feel would not do that task any good.

King Charles

As a Prince he already appeared in a long-running television drama when he played himself in the Coronation Street 40th Anniversary show in 2000. He was seen in footage on television after a visit to Weatherfield. King Charles the head of the Royal Family is very unlikely to be taking directing cues on the set of the Crown.

It’s a Royal Knockout

Many of you may think that it is very unlikely that a member of the Royal Family would appear on a television show, but those of a certain age will remember “Royal Knockout”.

It’s a Knockout was a popular game show featuring teams who competed in a range of silly outdoor games.

The Royal It’s a Knockout pitted one team led by Price Edward battling to win points against a team led by Princess Anne.

Both teams were raising money for charity.

To say it was a disaster would be an understatement, it was badly received by just about everybody.

This debacle may be in the minds of those who could be considering signing up for The Crown.

You can view all its hideousness on YouTube, including an angry Prince Edward storming out of a Press Conference when he asked the Press whether they liked it?
