Betting odds make it evens that the Next Pope will come from Africa

Betting specials continue to be offered on the next Pope and now the odds focus on where they will hail from with betting sites making Africa the favourite in the market.

History sees three African Pope's previously with Victor I, Miltiades, and Gelasius I having periods as the Pope from 189 to 496.

Now the latest odds say there's a 50% chance that we see an African Pope once again with 1527 years having passed ever since we saw it happen.

Next in the odds is a European Pope with the probability given at 33% according to the betting market and it'll be interesting to see if we see a bit of history in the next Papal voting.

Specific names given in the betting market on who will be the next Pope

The Next Pope markets include names of who could be the man who replaces Francis I next with familiar names featuring in the betting that we've seen previously.

Peter Turkson is a Ghanaian cardinal of the Catholic Church and currently sits as chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

Previously there had been odds on Turkson taking over last time with Paddy Power and Ladbrokes both making him favourite in their respective markets back in 2013 after Pope Benedict stepped down.

Now the betting odds have him as 7/1 to take over this time around with those odds putting him as the third favourite in the market.
