Jude Bellingham is the 5/2 favourite to win the Ballon d'Or this year after impressing so far for Real Madrid

English midfielder Jude Bellingham has moved into 5/2 favourite to win the 2024 Ballon d'Or award with UK Betting Sites now offering updated betting odds over who wins the prestigious prize.

Bellingham sits at the top of the betting market after impressing following his move to Real Madrid last summer and last weekend's winner in the latest El Clasico fixture has propelled his chances even further.

The Madrid midfielder has now scored 21 goals this season for Real Madrid and that has made him move above Laurie Cunningham and David Beckham as the top English scorer in the history of the Spanish club.

William Hill's latest betting odds puts Bellingham as the 5/2 favourite to win the award this year which suggests there's a 28.6% chance that he's voted ahead of his other professional's to get the famous prize.

The latest odds have him just ahead of Kylian Mbappe to win the award and the French striker could well become his Real Madrid teammate in the summer window if reports are to be believed.

Kylian Mbappe could well become Bellingham's Real Madrid teammate and is second favourite in the market

France and PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is the second favourite in the betting market at 3/1 to win the Ballon d'Or this year in what could be another massive year for the striker.

Mbappe will lead his country into the 2024 European Championships this summer and is also expected to join Real Madrid in the transfer window with bookies giving odds of 1/20 that transfer happens.

Now bookies put him just behind Bellingham in the betting market at 3/1 to win the Ballon d'Or with the latest odds giving an implied probability of 25% that he wins it for the first time in his career.

Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or back in October last year after winning the World Cup

Superstar Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or last year following his World Cup win back at the end of 2022 although various fans and pundits were wanting Erling Haaland to win the award.

Messi won that World Cup before leaving Paris St Germain to join Inter Miami in the MLS while Haaland won the treble and broke goalscoring records at Manchester City last season.

Messi has now won 8 Ballon d'Ors in an era that has been dominated by the Argentinian and Cristiano Ronaldo with 13 of the last 15 Ballon d'Or awards won by either of the two.

Karim Benzema won the award back in 2022 and Luka Modric won the award in 2018 in the only other years since Kaka back in 2007 that one of Messi or Ronaldo failed to win.
