Can Xue has 20% chance of winning 2024 Nobel Literature Prize
Can Xue remains the betting favourite to win the 2024 Nobel Literature Prize with betting sites continuing to offer odds ahead of the announcement of the prize later this year.
Deng Xiaohua, better known by her pen name Can Xue, had been favourite for the 2023 Nobel Literature Prize but the eventual winner was third favourite in the betting market, Jon Fosse.
12 months on though and it's Xue who leads the betting market once again with the latest odds giving an implied probability of 20% that she wins the award.
The will of Alfred Nobel states that the prize is awarded to “the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction”.

Jon Fosse won the 2023 Nobel Literature Prize
Norwegian Novelist and Playwright Jon Fosse was awarded the 2023 Nobel Literature Prize with the prize announced last October for his works that “give voice to the unsayable.”
Fosse is arguably one of the world's most popular playwrights now with his work translated into more than 40 languages and last year's Nobel Literature Prize will have amplified his popularity.
The award giving for winning the Nobel Literature Prize is 11m Swedish Krona which loosely translates to around £824,000 with the prize money rising by 1m Swedish Krona.
