2026-27 Women's Big Bash League Betting Preview

The 2025-26 cricket season of the Women's Big Bash League will be the twelfth tournament and will also be known as WBBL12.

There will be plenty of pre-season to get these players ready this season. The T20 Spring Challenge will take place for a third tournament. It was created to fill the absence of high-profile matches in Australia, and the Hobart Hurricanes are back-to-back winners.

Heading into the new season, the Hobart Hurricanes will be the defending champions, having won their first-ever title in 2025. This was a vast improvement on previous seasons, having never made the final before, but can they back up that win?

Could they join the list of dual winners of the WBBL, which features the Adelaide Strikers, Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder? Could one of those four make it a record-breaking third this season?

Remember that throughout the season, the OLBG Cricket Tipsters will be making predictions on every match; these will include match winner and top scorers for both of the participating teams.

Past Women's Big Bash League Winners

Of the eight Women's Big Bash League teams, seven have been crowned champions, which, considering there have only been eleven previous seasons, shows that this is a competitive tournament.

Four teams have been crowned champions twice, Sydney Sixers, Brisbane Heat & the Adelaide Strikers, all winning back-to-back championships, whilst the Sydney Thunder are the other dual winners.

The Perth Scorchers (WBBL07), Melbourne Renegades (WBBL10) and Hobart Hurricanes (WBBL11) are the other teams to have won the championship, which leaves just the Melbourne Stars as the only winless team.

WBBL Team Historical Records

The table below shows the record of each team in the WBBL since the tournament's creation.

Women's Big Bash League Team Records and Statistics

What is the highest team total in the WBBL?

The highest score in the WBBL came in 2017 when the Sydney Sixers set the Stars 243 to win and things didn't start great for the Sixers, they lost Healy for just four runs, however, Perry and Gardner put on a 150 partnership, Perry finished the innings 91 not out from 49 balls and Gardner was dismissed for 114 from just 52 balls, a strike rate of over 219%, the team finished the innings with a run rate of 12.10 and figures of 242/4.

The two-hundred run mark has only been breached eleven times during the history of this tournament. The closest anyone got to the record was the Heat in 2023, when they scored 229; the Thunder have hit 200+ four times during their history.

What is the lowest team total in the WBBL?

It was an embarrassing day for the Stars in 2023 when they set the lowest score in the history of this tournament. They were set 178 to win by the Strikers; however, not a single Stars player got into double digits, and the team were bowled out for a total of just 29 with Dunkley top scoring with 9!

That is by far the lowest total, with the next being 42, which was achieved in 2025 by the Sixers. In total, ten teams have scored sub-80. Of the bottom fourteen lowest scores, the Renegades (x4) appear the most and then the Hurricanes (x3).

The other three matches saw the Stars beat the Sixers in 2025 by 111 runs, the Scorchers defeat the Renegades by 104 runs, and the Sixers beat the Hurricanes by 103 runs; the Scorchers also beat the Hurricanes by 98 runs, giving them two of the top four largest victories.

What is the largest victory by wickets?

There has been a total of ten victories by ten wickets, which means the team chased down the target without losing a single wicket, and six of those ten targets were over 100 too.

From those ten matches, the Scorchers appeared four times chasing down targets of 141, 135, 98 & 134 without losing records; the other teams were the Renegades (x2), Heat (x2) and the Sixers (x2).
