Southampton Manager
Ivan Juric is the new manager of Southampton; he replaces Russell Martin, who was sacked in December 2024. He becomes their 26th boss since 2000 and forty-fourth since 1894. Croatian-born Juric has previously managed six Italian clubs, with him most recently being in charge of Seria A side Roma. That appointment could not have gone any worse, and he was dismissed after just 12 games with Roma bottom of the table. He takes over at Southampton with the club in a similar position, and it must be hoped that he has more success on the South Coast. He has been given an 18-month contract with Saints, which includes a break option in the summer of 2025, presumably put in place on whether the team avoids relegation to the Championship. If another change does take place at St Mary's the best betting sites will have all the next Southampton manager odds.

Who Will Be The Next Southampton manager
Below are potential candidates should the job become available today based on previous people appearing in the betting odds when the position was vacant last time, to others who have a profile that would fit the club in terms of the last few managers Southampton have had.
Danny Rohl

The current Sheffield Wednesday manager has been supported in moving south to the Saints. Rohl, born in East Germany, is in his first managerial position with the Yorkshire club, helping save the Owls from Championship relegation in 2024.
Jesse Marsch

Before Russell Martin was appointed at St Marys there were rumours that Marsch was in the frame for the Southampton job. He may be a candidate who the board sound out again. The bookies certainly think so having installed the ex Leeds United boss towards the head of this betting market.
Carlos Corberan
Corberan features in most EPL markets away from the big six. The Spaniard who in recent seasons has managed Huddersfield Town and Olympiacos has been at West Bromwich Albion since October 2022.
David Moyes
Moyes is available having been let go by West Ham at the end of the 2023/24 season. Whether the 61 year old wants to take on another struggling club has not stopped the bookies featuring him in the next Saints manager vacancy.
Gareth Southgate
If none of the big six come calling, the former England manager could be a good fit.
The Saints board may feel that an experienced man is needed to guide the club out of the relegation zone, and few candidates can match Southgate's eight years in the top job.
Southgate left his role with the national team in July 2024 after defeat in the European Championship Final and has said he needs a break to at least 2025.
Steven Gerrard
The former Liverpool and England player did very well with Glasgow Rangers and poorly with Aston Villa.
He is currently in Saudi Arabia with Al - Ettifaq where he was appointed in 2023.
His managerial reputation has been slightly knocked by his disappointing time in the West Midlands, but a vacancy at Southampton would give him a route back to English football.
Graham Potter
Image: shutterstock/ph.FAB
The former Brighton and Chelsea manager is too good a coach not to be managing a top-quality side despite his travails at Stamford Bridge, where a mixture of new owners and too many new highly-paid acquisitions scuppered his chances of success.
At some point in his career, we suspect the English national team may call for his services; the Southampton job may be a helpful stepping stone.
Steve Cooper
The former Swansea City, Nottingham Forest and Leicester City boss has had a mixed managerial career, doing well at his first two clubs, including achieving promotion with Forest after being appointed with the East Midlands club bottom of the table, but only lasting 15 games at his latest position at Leicester City.
Kjetil Knutsen
Image: romapress
The Norwegian was the initial favourite for the Brighton job before Roberto De Zerbi was appointed. He now features in virtually every EPL managerial market.
His current team, where he has been for five years, are FK Bodo/Glimt, who won back-to-back Eliteserien titles in Norway and who are now regularly seen playing in European club competitions, giving Knutsen and his team a much higher profile.
Marcelo Gallardo

Marcelo Gallardo was quoted at 10/1 to become the next Southampton manager in the spring of 2023.
The former manager of River Plate has not been in charge of any team outside Argentina but Saints have history with Argentinian managers and securing Gallardo to manage them would be a real coup.

FAQ
Southampton Next Manager Betting FAQs
Who Is the Longest Serving Manager Of Southampton
The legendary Ted Bates managed the club between 1955 and 1973. He then moved upstairs as a director and then president. He was Mr Southampton and was the architect of their current status
A new statue of Bates was unveiled at St Mary's in 2008.
How Long Was Laurie McMenemy At The Club
He succeeded Ted Bates and was at Southampton for 12 years.
His time at the club included the memorable FA Cup Final win over Manchester United in 1976.
Who Was The First Southampton Manager
Records of Cecil Knight between 1892 and 1895 show he won 15 of his 25 matches.
Which Southampton Manager Had The Worst Win Percentage
Of the permanent Saints Managers, Steve Wigley, who had been caretaker boss previously, was appointed in August 2004. He only won 3 of his 17 games (17.65%) and was gone before Christmas. Mark Hughes (March 2018 - December 2018) only did slightly better winning just 5 of 27 games for a percentage win rate of 18.5%
Which Southampton Manager Had The Best Win Percentage
Alfred McMinn (1896-1897) won 19 of his 27 matches for a win percentage of just over 70%. In more recent times the winning most percentage was achieved by Nigel Adkins(2010-2013) with him winning 54 % of matches whilst in the Saints dugout.
What Traits Will The Next Southampton Manager Need
The owners who acquired a controlling stake in Southampton FC in January 2022 will be under pressure to get their next appointment right after some false dawns with Nathan Jones and Reuben Telles. They may need to find a manager who has previously achieved promotion. (Nathan Jones may have been ideal for a relegated club?) With games every 3 or 4 days in the SkyBet Championship, you need a manager who has experienced this level of intensity. You must also have a squad deep enough to be unaffected by the inevitable injuries that this punishing schedule will induce. The new manager will need the tactics and man-management skills to handle the current Southampton players who may not wish to be plying their trade in a lower league, and he will need to identify and recruit younger players who can "add something" to the established team. Finally, at times he may need a thick skin to placate the fans immediate expectations of bouncing straight back into the EPL.
