Interview December 2025
Glen Johnson discusses Liverpool's form, Konate's future, Chelsea's rebuild, England’s World Cup chances, and memories from his career.
We'll start off with one of your former clubs, Liverpool. Obviously their title defense has not gone as planned. Some signings did not quite make the impact that was expected. What's your assessment of their start to season and what needs to change to get them back to last season's form?
At the minute, I think the overall thing is a dip in form across the board. Obviously, they started very well in terms of results, but a lot of the wins were last-minute winners, which is also a sign of champions. Everyone thought they were going to kick on and only improve, yet for them to do the opposite.
So I think it's a bit of a shock to see where they are at the moment. But unfortunately, this is a sport and every game they have they're defending the title. So everyone wants to beat them. They got to be 10 out of 10 and that's very hard to maintain. So they're always going to dip at some point.
But I think the manner in which they're losing at the moment is probably the biggest surprise. But yeah, of course they'll bounce back. There's a long way to go. But defending any title is always tough. I just think at the moment there's too many players that are not hitting the level that they've set themselves.
And you know, when there's one or two doing it, that's okay. You can pull them through and they can snap out of it. But when there's four or five or maybe even six that are not at their standards, then it's hard to win football games.
Glen Johnson on Liverpool's title struggles

One of the players that potentially has struggled the most this season is Ibrahima Konate. His contract expires at the end of the season. How important do you think it is for Liverpool to tie him down to a new deal?
Yeah, I think it's important. Obviously he's not anywhere near where his best is, but he's still a very good player and very valuable. So for me, you can't let him walk out on a free. You've got to work with him, get his confidence back, and then you've got a fantastic defender again.
So I think it's important that they nail him down. You don't lose your class overnight. His form will bounce back.
Johnson backs Liverpool to stick with Konate
One of the potential options to replace him is obviously Marc Guehi, who they were linked with in the summer. Would you go back in for him or is there another target that you think Liverpool should be looking at?

No, I would go back in for him for sure. But I don't like it when deals just run on for years, you either want to do it or you don't. So I think they should get it done as soon as possible, but not necessarily to replace Konate, just for another player that's at that level that can push each other forward.
And obviously, whichever one doesn't play, they've got to react and they've got to work on themselves to get back into the team and that's healthy for any team.
Johnson urges Liverpool to return for Guehi
What have you made of Milos Kerkez’s start to his Liverpool career? What do you think the best full-back pairing is at the moment?
I think it's been a bit hit and miss. You know, he looks quite erratic at times. Looks like he's never far away from a red card or something silly. It's a bit nerve wracking to watch a little bit.
But then he’ll do stuff where you can see why they signed him, you know? So I think once he learns to settle down and play the role that he needs to do, then I think he can kick on. But at the moment, for me, I'd still pick Robbo and Conor Bradley.
Johnson names his first-choice full-backs
How much of a step up is it, in terms of demand joining Liverpool from a club like Bournemouth? Is that what he's struggling with at the moment?
I don't know if that's necessarily what he's struggling with, but it's definitely a massive change. You know, the mentality in football clubs where they're happy to finish mid-table, and I'm not talking about Bournemouth, but just in general. Every club's got their own ambitions for the start of the season. If your ambition is to finish eighth and you're over the moon, then you can afford to lose games. So people haven't got to be at it all the time. They should be, but they just don't because they don't need to.
So when you go into a club like Liverpool, when you're almost favourites for every single game you start, you have to win. And losing comes hard. But, you know, if you're mid-table and you lose 10 games a season, it's like, cool, we've got next week. It doesn't really matter. But if you lose two, three on a bounce at Liverpool, the league's over. You know, so it's a totally different mentality.
Obviously, there are people that can cope with it, but you need the right person. It's not just about being good enough. You need the right mentality that can deliver it week in, week out, because the standards at Liverpool are totally different to a mid-table team.
Johnson explains step up from mid-table to title race
At right-back, we've seen Connor Bradley, Frimpong, Szoboszlai all play there. As a former Liverpool right-back yourself, how do you see the future of that position panning out for the rest of the season?

Well, to be honest, I'm surprised that Conor hasn't kicked on with Trent going. You know, I've said in every interview I've done, I think he's more than capable of filling his shoes and making that spot his own. But the fact the manager keeps chopping and changing makes you think that he ain't so sure. So I think he still needs to kick on. I think he's got all the attributes to do so. I just think you've got a great chance now to make that slot your own. I don't think you need to do much more than what he's doing, but just do it more regularly.
He's good going forward, he's good on the ball, he's a good defender, he's a good athlete. So I think he's got it all, he just needs to string a few decent performances together and I think he's got the slot.
Glen Johnson on Liverpool's right-back options
How has that full-back role changed under Slot from Klopp? What's been the biggest difference for the full-backs in Slot’s system?
Well, obviously there's a little bit with the personnel and probably the midfielders allowing the full-backs to do what Klopp wanted them to do. You know, everyone's got to play their role and for full-backs to get in positions where you're crossing it almost to the other full back, all the other players need to know that's happening and fill gaps and give you the confidence to be able to go so high.
Like I said, they look like they're a little bit more restrained at the moment, but that's also because maybe the players aren't comfortable being in those positions. So I don't think it's the fact that Slot's stopping them doing it. It's just a combination of the fact that maybe these players aren't comfortable that high up. The midfielders aren't so comfortable sitting back. So I think it's a mixture of a few things.

Johnson compares Slot and Klopp full-back tactics
You had your longest spell of your career at Liverpool. What are the standout moments for you during your time at the club, good or bad?
Well across the board, we had a lot of bad, a lot of good. Your debut is always a special one. Everyone always says it, but when you hear You'll Never Walk Alone for the first time, it does make your hair stand up. And I’m not just saying it because everyone says it, it's a thing. It's very special. Obviously, people get to hear it as an away player, but when you know it's for you and it's coming from your corner, it means 10 times more.
So hearing that every home game is special, scoring goals at Anfield, trophies are the main thing for me. They're the things that people can say whatever they like, but you can't take away the trophies. So obviously lifting a trophy for a club like Liverpool is important.
But the biggest downfall, I guess, was the year we should have won the league. We were the best team by far. So to not just get it over the line at the end was a bit of a shame, but it's hard to win the Premier League and we just had one too many slip-ups and that was it.
Glen Johnson reflects on highs and lows at Liverpool
You played with some world class players during your career. Is there one player that you perhaps wasn't expecting to be quite as good as they were?
For Liverpool, the unsung hero is Lucas Leiva. Of course, there's loads of great players that we played with, but I just think he does all the stuff that kind of no one else wants to do, but he just does it so well that when I'm flying up high or whatever, I know he's got my back and I know he's going to sit there and he's happy to do that.
So I think any team that's going to win the league needs a player like Lucas. Someone that can just do everything very well. But he's not going to be getting you five, eight goals a season, but he allows other people to do that.
Johnson praises Liverpool’s midfield anchor Lucas
And how about a player you played against, in terms of being underrated?

Well, I wouldn't say underrated because everyone knows, I'm going to say Scholes. Not that he's underrated, everyone knows how good he is, but until you play against him, you don't know how good he is.
He's very, very intelligent. You know, he's not a good athlete. He can't run and he can't tackle, but because he's so intelligent, he doesn't need to. You think you're big, quick and strong, you just need to get near him and you'd be able to bully him a little bit. But because he knows that he doesn't allow you to get near him.
He plays a different kind of football, not that he's underrated because everyone knows he's world-class, but I think he was better than I was expecting.
Johnson on what made Scholes truly elite
One of the best players that you've ever played with is Luis Suarez. Obviously he was an animal on the pitch during match days. Was it the case in training?
Yeah, he did. Everyone works hard, but Luis was at it ALL the time. We've seen over the years many, many players that are great in training and terrible in games or vice versa or terrible in training, but you know they're going to turn up in the game.
Luis, what you see on a Saturday at Anfield is what he does daily. He’s angry if he loses, he always wants to win. It could be like a 2v2 or 3v3 or whatever in training. It doesn't matter. Luis will want to win whatever it takes.
Glen Johnson on the intensity of Luis Suarez
You were at Chelsea as a youngster on the bench for the Champions League semi-final, the Luis Garcia ghost goal. What was that like watching from the bench, what it was like in the dressing room afterwards?
Almost pretty much exactly what you see. That period, they were the best games. Chelsea were the best team, Liverpool were the best team, and they were the biggest games. Obviously United were there, of course, as well.
But I mean, at that time, it seemed like every semi-final is Liverpool-Chelsea. It was crazy. The atmosphere was great. Two good big teams going at it.
And obviously at the time, well, it wasn't a goal. We know that it wasn't a goal, obviously it got given, so it is what it is. But yeah, you've got big players in both dressing rooms, so they're all winners. So you can only imagine whichever team lost was not happy to lose. So it could get a bit fiery inside and the dressing rooms could kick off a little bit, but that's why it's full of winners.
Johnson recalls Champions League drama vs Liverpool
Years later, you're at Liverpool. You mentioned earlier the Gerrard slip against Chelsea. What was that like in the dressing room afterwards? What was Gerrard like after that game?

Well, we were just all down. We were obviously distraught and to be honest, the dressing room was silent because it's just a freak accident in that game. Everyone talks about that because it's like the iconic moment that people want to remember.
But the truth is, we didn't lose the league because of that game. Going into Christmas, we were like sixth or something. We dropped about 22 points before Christmas.
Everyone talks about how that game cost us a league, but we drew nil-nil at home with Wolves. You know, a game we should win comfortably. You win those games that you should win easily, then the league's done. Then that Chelsea game doesn't really matter.
We've obviously done great after Christmas, going on a massive run. We were the best team by miles, we were 2-0 up in most games after 20 minutes. Unfortunately we just didn't do enough before Christmas to make that big moment not be a big moment.
Johnson sets record straight on Gerrard’s infamous moment
Moving on to Chelsea, you obviously played during the new era under Roman Abramovich, who brought in a lot of new signings. Who would you say was the best signing during?
I'd have to say Didier Drogba. Like I say, Roman was just buying almost the best player in the world in every position. Our team was a joke. The training sessions were crazy.
But I think in terms of who delivered in the big games, probably won the most, I have to say Drogba. You can't go deep into the Champions League and win a Premier League without someone like that. All the big games, he turned up for pretty much all of them.
Glen Johnson names Drogba as Abramovich’s best buy
It’s a different strategy under the new ownership at the moment at Chelsea. What do you think of their current approach in terms of their transfer business? And do you think in the long term they're going to be successful in what they're doing?
Yeah, I think it can work. It's totally different to the system or the set up that we had. I just think it's a hell of a lot more risky in the sense that you're buying loads and loads of youngsters, which are great, but half of them aren't going to work.
To win the league, say in two, three years time, you need them all to hit form and hit their peak at the same time. So the chances of that happening is unlikely, where it's different in our time, because Roman was just buying the best player in the peak and slotting them straight in. So that's why we were so successful almost straight away. But of course you can't do that these days.
But look, they're signing great players. They're definitely investing. I just think they're going to need a lot more luck to get back to the top of the league than the way the Roman era did it.
Johnson warns Chelsea’s youth-focused plan is a gamble
Is there anyone that you feel Chelsea need in January to strengthen, to that next step? Is there any player that you look at in the market who’d be great for Chelsea?
I think it's always a tough one because look, Chelsea are doing great. I think they still need a striker. Who? I'm not sure.
But look, they're doing great, they're winning games. They've looked the best they've looked for a long time. They're not too far away from the top right now. So whatever they're doing is working.
I think they just need some luck to keep everyone fit, keep everyone in form. If you're going into Christmas fighting for the top, then you're doing something right.
Johnson says Chelsea are nearly title contenders
How far off do you think Chelsea are from challenging for the title? Six points behind Arsenal as things stand ahead of next weekend's game. Is it a case of many years or do you think they're closer than that?

No, I think they're close enough now. City haven't been themselves. Liverpool haven't been themselves.
Up until now Arsenal have been the most consistent probably over the last four years. So they will probably be the ones that you need to beat. They look more consistent and you know what they're going to deliver. Chelsea can beat anybody, but then they can go and lose a silly game at home after their best performance, so it's a bit hot and cold.
So I think if they can just get a bit more consistent, then they're good enough to win it this year.
Johnson believes Chelsea are in the title mix
Moving on to a former Chelsea manager in Thomas Tuchel and England, how do you think they'll do at the World Cup in the summer? Do you think they have the quality and the talent to win it?
Yeah, definitely. On paper we've got a very strong squad, bundles of talent, good ages. I think it's just we have to get the mentality right.
In tournament football it's not about playing well. To win, you just need to win. So sometimes we've been a bit nice in the past but we've also been competing. So I think if Tuchel can give them that winning mentality and be a bit more horrible and ruthless, then we're definitely good enough to win.
Johnson: England can win the World Cup with right mindset

I just want to ask you about the England right back position. Obviously Trent Alexander-Arnold has gone to Real Madrid and perhaps isn't playing as many games as he wishes he was. Do you think he makes the squad on current form?
Well, in current form, in terms of the game time as of today, probably no. But in terms of what he's capable of and his ability for the squad, then absolutely.
But like I said earlier, form comes and goes. He's a great player and he will bounce back for sure. But if you get him even 90% of Trent, he is good enough to play. So right now he's not himself. But, these big moves can take time to settle in and adjust.
But yeah, hopefully by the time the tournament comes around, he's found his feet, he's got plenty of minutes under his belt and we'll have him back.
Johnson backs Trent to recover before the Euros
Obviously the World Cup will feature 48 teams with other continents receiving more qualification spots. How do you think that expansion is going to look? Is it going to dilute the quality or are you looking forward to seeing more different teams at the tournament?
Well, it can work either way. Obviously it will dilute the quality, of course it will, because that's just a fact. But for those nations that don't normally get to be involved, obviously that's a positive.
But then it's the same with some of the qualifications. What's the point? You're going to beat them 6-0. Like, all you've to do is avoid injury. And that's not being disrespectful.
We look at our qualifications like, course we're going to qualify. Of course we will. But I guess it's something new and things change all the time. So we just have to see how it works.
Johnson reacts to 48-team World Cup expansion
You said England have got a decent chance. Who would you say are the top nations that you fancy to win the whole thing in the summer?
It'd just be all the usuals, I couldn't tell you. Spain have obviously got a great squad, a good young squad. Italy just find a way to win. Same as Germany. So I think it'd be impossible to pick a winner right now. But I reckon whoever beats us has got a massive chance, put it that way.
Johnson tips England as one of the favourites
Just want to go back to the managers that you played under at Liverpool. Benitez, Hodgson, Rodgers and Dalglish. How did they compare? Is there a manager that you preferred playing under?

I'd probably say Rafa Benitez. He bought me to just get forward as often as I could. I was in great form at the time. I'd probably say I had less reins on me then. I love getting forward, I love being involved in the attacks. Obviously at the time the team was great as well. We were so much on the attack, 75% of the time. I definitely enjoyed that period.
Johnson picks Rafa as favourite Liverpool manager
I'm guessing you'd have loved playing under Jurgen Klopp’s system?
Yeah, 100%. You know, full-backs, obviously before my time, they just booted balls into the channel or whatever. In our time, footballers don't do that. We certainly didn't do that.
So to play with Klopp, it would have allowed me to get on the ball and play, it would have suited me down to the ground.
Johnson says Klopp’s tactics match his game
You played for two huge clubs in Liverpool and Chelsea. What was the biggest difference in the dressing room and in the way that you prepared for games?
In terms of how you prepare for games, pretty similar to be honest. You know, each dressing room would have characters. Some would want to be more vocal, some would be quiet, some would be nervous, some wouldn't.
But I'd say the Chelsea dressing room was just different because almost every player in the dressing room was a major player for their national team in terms of like they're all big winning stars. Massive players that are used to winning things.
Whereas the period at Liverpool is different because there's problems with the ownership, selling some great players and not replacing them, so it's kind of a different period. So I'd say that was probably the major difference.
Johnson compares Chelsea and Liverpool squads
Interview February 2023
Glen Johnson gives his views on Liverpool's first leg against Real Madrid as well as the current state of Chelsea and West Ham
What did you make of the game on Tuesday?
It was a high quality Champions League game in terms of personnel and players. Liverpool came out of the blocks and Real Madrid took a bit of time to start. Once they got into the game, they were in a different league. A 2-0 lead was very flattering to Liverpool. It was down to a Courtois mistake and Liverpool coming fast and hard at Madrid, but it wasn't really justified. Although I wasn’t expecting them to score five.
Is it the end for Klopp at this point?

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s time is not over. Liverpool could have easily gotten something out of the game. It boiled down to 3 or 4 big errors and errors always lead to goals. If you didn't watch the game, you would think they had been absolutely battered. But I do think they showed glimpses of the Liverpool of old. The difference was in the second half. Liverpool couldn’t really get a hand in the game. They are still a good team and if you sack Klopp who do you bring in?
What are you predicting for the second leg?
The Bernabeu is a tough place to go and score goals. It’s not looking good to have to score four goals to qualify. It is highly unlikely, but at the same time, that could play an advantage because they can go there with no pressure and enjoy the game as much as they can. If they repeat their quick goal-scoring that they did at Anfield then it could be game on. However, it is unrealistic.

Based on this performance, how do you think it reflects on their Top 4 chances?
The Premier League is a different competition altogether. They came into the Real Madrid game in decent form and started this game very well. They did run into a bigger, better team and they're not going to play teams like Madrid every week in the Premier League, so as long as they can overcome the loss and carry on the league form then they will be very close to achieving the top 4 spot.

Premier League Average Positions - Who Are The Real Big 6
Do you think Cody Gakpo is starting to show why Liverpool splashed out on him?
Cody Gakpo is starting to settle well at Liverpool. I certainly think those goals a few weeks ago helped him settle because before that, he wasn’t taking to the Premier league too quickly. There were a few moments in the game last night where he looked brilliant. So I think he's going to settle in now and really kick on at Liverpool.
Does that game reinforce the need for new signings, do you think?
After the Real Madrid game, we need at least three or four more players that would last us at least four years. Some of the current players don’t have that long left. They do need a couple of experienced players that have ‘done it all.’’ But at the same time, there are still a lot of world class players. They just lack confidence and form at the moment. So I think a couple of big signings might prick their ears again, and get everyone firing.
John Henry says the club is not for sale but is open to investment. Given this season, do you think that’s essential?

I think the club should be open to selling. It's just a matter of the right offer, but if they don’t want to sell, that is great. They've been fantastic owners. If they're not comfortable putting their own amount of money, or FSG’s money, then taking investments is obviously very sensible and clever. So as long as the club get the players they need, they should be fine.
Liverpool are among favourites for Declan Rice. Do you think he’d also be good enough for Real Madrid?
Declan Rice would be good for Real Madrid. In those big teams it is easy to play. If Declan went there, he would definitely thrive there. Real Madrid have the standard and players to support him. He would also suit a team like Liverpool.
Where does Stefan Bajetic rank among the best young players you’ve seen at Liverpool in recent years?
Stefan Bajcetic hasn’t played many games to consider him one of the best young players you've ever seen, but he's certainly a fantastic footballer. He's not the most athletic but his attributes and football brain are very good technically. I'm not saying he's slow but he's a kid so he's going to fill out and get stronger and probably get a bit quicker as well. He is a fantastic prospect and I am happy with what we have seen so far.
Was it too early to play him in such a grand fixture?
It wasn’t risky to play Bajcetic at all. If you didn’t know his age, you would have probably only said that he only made one mistake. For the second goal, he got caught on the ball in midfield. To be fair, as there were other players around him, he's not the last man so he's allowed to take some risks. Maybe his confidence allowed him to take the extra touch, but the best players in the world will pounce on that and punish you. He just got it wrong in terms of how he tried to do it. So no, I wouldn't blame him for that or anything. I think he had a fantastic game.
What is your prediction for the Crystal Palace game?
The saying goes that ‘’good teams don’t lose twice in a row.’’ Crystal Palace will not roll over but they are certainly not Real Madrid. I expect Liverpool to bounce back and come out flying like they did against Madrid. They should get an early goal and carry the momentum to a positive result.
Jamie Carragher recently slated Virgil Van Dijk after yesterday’s performance and said he would take his place in the squad. Do you agree?
In terms of Van Dijk’s performance, there's no two ways about it, he is not the Van Dijk we know and love. It was by far his worst defensive performance. Madrid looked dangerous almost every time they moved forward. So I wouldn't say it was an embarrassing Liverpool performance because Madrid can do that to anyone. It was nowhere near their peak or near to what they're capable of. They just look a little bit disjointed at the minute and I think there's a few players that made mistakes. If you're not your best against these teams, you get found out.

Do you think you would get into Liverpool's current squad?
In my prime, I would get into this current Liverpool squad. No one's playing at their standard or peak. The scoreline makes us have this conversation but there were a lot of players on the pitch performing under par. For whatever reason, it's just not working.
Chelsea
Is Graham Potter still the manager to bring this squad together?

Graham Potter is still the manager to bring this Chelsea side together, he was never going to be the kind of manager that came in like a wrecking ball. It's going to take time for players to get behind his philosophy and the owners knew that when they appointed him. As long as Chelsea stick with Potter's plan, then they will come good but if they wanted an instant reaction, they signed the wrong manager.
Who do you think will be better suited to manage Chelsea?
Graham Potter is still learning and this is his first season with top-quality players and playing in the Champions League. Potter deserves time and I don't think it's a case of who is a better option right now. If Chelsea wanted a manager to walk through the door and be firing straight away, they signed the wrong manager.

Should Chelsea forget about Champions League football this season?
You can never forget about or give up on the Champions League, it has to be a goal. The top four will be a big challenge from Chelsea's position, but you can't give up the Champions League, they have to take each game as it comes and try to reach the top four as well as progress through the tournament.
How much has Joao Felix impressed you since his Chelsea debut? Should they push to sign him, even if he breaks the record set by Enzo Fernandez?
Joao Felix has always been a top-class footballer, the question was always 'how would he be able to deal with the Premier League?'. Felix is great technically and has a brilliant tactical mind. He can be a huge player, but there's a massive price tag on him so people will be keeping an eye on him every week. Felix has performed well in his last couple of appearances, despite his red card.
Enzo seems to gather a lot of praise at the moment, has he already established himself as an essential player? Ahead of Mason Mount, even?
While Enzo Fernandez is playing well, it will be hard for him not to play in this Chelsea team. People say English players don't get a chance, but they do get a chance, players like Mason Mount have to step up to the challenge and raise their game when better players are signed in their position.
Did Chelsea buy into the hype of Mykahilo Murdryk? Is he worth it?
At this point, no Chelsea signing has been worth signing because no player can justify their high value in just two months of playing for the team. They all could be, they all have attributes and quality to give, but no one can justify Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk's price tag because they have not played enough yet. I expect them to settle and kick on, and they will probably justify their price tags.
With reports that Thomas Tuchel could return to PSG, did Todd Boehly get it wrong with his sacking?

Todd Boehly won't have made a mistake in sacking Thomas Tuchel if Graham Potter gets the Chelsea team firing. Everyone knows Tuchel is a great manager, but the Chelsea owners came in with a plan, they had a plan and they wanted Potter in. Even if Tuchel becomes the next PSG manager and does really well, Boehly won't think he made a mistake in sacking him because he did not want him for their next four or five-year project.
Mason Mount seems to be on his way out of Chelsea and is being closely monitored by Liverpool? Could Mount revive himself at Anfield?
Mason Mount could definitely revive his career at Liverpool. He still has a chance at Chelsea too, the bigger players need to raise the game. The door is not shut on his Chelsea career yet, but if he played at Liverpool, they would bite their arm off to get him and Mount could probably do the same to play for Liverpool.
Jose Mourinho has been looked at to possibly return to Chelsea? Would this be a wise choice from Chelsea if they sack potter?

Jose Mourinho would walk through the door and get all the players' attention and they would be close to winning the league within three years. But Mourinho would not be sticking around in five years time, so it all depends on what the Chelsea owner's project is. If they want success instantly, then Mourinho is their man, but if they want to compete for the next 10 years, then Graham Potter is your man.
What is your prediction for the Tottenham game?
Tottenham are a tough team to predict, one day they look like a title-challenging team then the next week they look like a totally different team. Chelsea will be looking at Son Heung-Min and hoping he's not back scoring goals again, otherwise they will be in trouble. If I had to bet on it, I would have no clue who to go for, it's an unpredictable game.

Will Still (Reims manager) has expressed his desire to manage West Ham. Should the Hammers make way for Europe’s youngest manager ?
I don't know much about Will Still, I'm always reluctant to change managers at his point in the season. West Ham are struggling and there is no other manager in the league that has been in that situation and survived more than David Moyes has. I would rather stick with someone who has been in this situation before rather than West Ham panicking and appoint an inexperienced manager in this position.

What are your thoughts on Michail Antonio’s form as of late?
Michail Antonio always works hard but his form has not been great for some time now. The problem with a player like Antonio, even when his form is good, he's still not a natural goalscorer and won't give you loads of goals. When he's out of form, he can run around and draw some fouls, but that's not good enough in the Premier League. For a struggling team, you have to give more.
Is it Moyes time to go after West Ham fell into the relegation zone after the Weekend?
It's tough to say because West Ham are in that position for a reason, but I do think West Ham have the firepower to get away from the relegation zone, even though I've been saying that for weeks. Last week against Tottenham, it felt like it was the worst performance I've ever seen West Ham produce. At the minute, the players need to sort themselves out, it's not about David Moyes. The players need more confidence to play and I don't think any other manager would give them that confidence. Once the players perform, then we can look at Moyes.

Who would be a valuable replacement for him if his sacking happens?
If David Moyes gets sacked, then it's because West Ham are in the relegation zone. They'll need a manager who can prepare them for the Championship or a manager who can get them out of trouble. I'd go for a young manager who is fearless in that situation, someone with new and fresh ideas. It's hard because it depends when Moyes would be sacked and the timing of it. Moyes has not been sacked yet, so I'm not sure who that would be just yet.
If Rice does leave - who should West Ham look into buying to replace him and possibly rebuild the squad?
Let's face it, West Ham need about six players or maybe more. They're in this position because the players have not been good enough. People will say West Ham have been unlucky, but the league table does not lie, they've played enough games for it not to be just a coincidence. West Ham need six Premier League-proven players to set the foundation for next season.
What is your prediction for the Nottingham Forest game?
Nottingham Forest a dangerous game for West Ham. No disrespect to Forest, but these games are the ones West Ham have to win. Forest are not an established Premier League team yet and West Ham need to take advantage of that by winning the game. Whether West Ham are good enough to, I'm not sure.
