Constituency Information
Since its establishment for the 1974 general election, Brentwood and Ongar, an Essex constituency, has been a stronghold for the Conservatives. Alex Burghart has represented it since 2017 and became Parliamentary Secretary for the Cabinet Office in October 2022.

Initially, it was part of the now-defunct Billericay constituency. Throughout its history, it's been consistently held by the Conservative Party, with notable representation by Eric Pickles from 1992 to 2017. The Liberal Democrats achieved their peak in 1992 and were the runners-up in 2010. In 2001, independent Martin Bell ran against Pickles, significantly reducing the Conservative majority but failing to win.
