In the 2017 general election, Yasin gained the seat from the Conservatives with a majority of 789 votes. In the previous general elections, the seat was held by Richard Fuller of the Conservatives.
In the 2015 general election, Richard Fuller held the seat for the Conservatives with a majority of 1,097 votes. Prior to that, Patrick Hall of Labour held the seat in the 2010 general election. In 2005 and 2001, Hall also held the seat for Labour.
