Barnsley East Constituency Information
Barnsley East is a South Yorkshire constituency that has been represented by Stephanie Peacock of the Labour Party since 2017. After a 2023 review of Westminster constituencies, its boundaries are expected to change and the name will shift to Barnsley South. The constituency contains the south-east suburbs of Barnsley and former coal mining areas such as Hoyland, Wombwell, and Darfield, with residents being generally poorer than the UK average.

The seat has historically been politically aligned with the Labour Party since its creation in 1983, although it has seen a decline in support, becoming a marginal seat after the 2019 general election.
