BAFTA TV Awards 2022

The Virgin Media BAFTA TV Awards will take place on Sunday 8th May and will be shown on BBC1.

Will Smith impressed the critics in King Richard where he played the father of Serena and Venus Williams.

BAFTA Film Award - Best Actor In A Supporting Role

Golden Globe winner Kodi Smith McPhee was pivotal in the telling of the Power Of The Dog story and was the odds on favourite in this category. 

Troy Kotsur had been backed after his performance in CODA.

That film has been the surprise mover in all the awards shows and the bookies were careful not to offer too generous odds, they were right to be cautious with Kotsur winning the BAFTA.

E.G If a film has odds of 2/1 the film according to the bookie's odds has a percentage chance of winning of 33.33%.

    The BAFTAS are normally held in February each year. They use to be after the Oscars in May but moved the ceremony to February in 2001. 

    In 2022 they will be held in March. 

  • When Was The First BAFTA Awards?

    The first BAFTA Awards were in May 1949. 

    There were three awards 

    Best British Film: Odd Man Out, starring James Mason. 

    Best Film: The Best Years Of Our Lives directed by William Wyler

    Best Documentary: The World Is Rich, a piece about food shortages after the war.

  • Where Is The BAFTAS Ceremony held?

    The BAFTAS Ceremony currently takes place at the Royal Albert Hall in London. 

    In previous years the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square and the Royal Opera House in Convent Garden both hosted the BAFTAS.
