I don't think there is a great deal between Andrew Balding's Musical Angel and the Richard Hughes-trained Vamp. Vamp recorded the best speed rating in the field and is well clear of Musical Angel. Vamp sets the standard with a rating of 75, having raced 3 times and is improving with each run, finishing 6-32. I think the bookies have the favorites the wrong way round... champion, better odds for me.

Musical Angel hadn't been seen since finishing a decent 3rd of 13 at Newbury last August. With the Andrew Balding yard starting the season very well, they will take the son of Dark Angel to break their maiden tag at the 3rd time of asking. With further improvement highly likely, and if forward for seasonal reappearance, he should go very close.

Two career runs for the 3yo filly. She was 5th of 12 just over a week ago and was better than the actual stats. She picked up nicely from off the pace 2f out and did come to challenge inside the final furlong, running out of gas late on. The 1st and 2nd in that novice race look very useful. This drop down from 6f to 5f could suit her in this novice stakes.
