Type of Racing: National Hunt Only

Kelso Racing Highlights:  The Premier Novice Hurdle held in early March is a grade 2 contest worth over £20k. Horses that win this Novice race often go on to run at the Aintree Grand National meeting, Mount Mews and Le Prezien are recent examples.

The Morebattle Hurdle is run in February and is a condition race over 2 miles and 2 furlongs, the race has been targeted by Nicky Henderson in recent years with Simonsig and Top Notch both winning before heading to Cheltenham.

In December the course hosts the Scottish Borders National, being the time of the year and the fact it's run over four miles, it can be a very demanding race.

The track can be stiff for hurdlers and chasers so plenty of stamina is sometimes required depending on conditions, however, the horses visually on anything less than very soft or heavy do seem to nip around the track.
