* All statistics below are based on the previous five years at Leicester
Flat: Until the course was redeveloped at the Wigston end, it had a straight mile and better drainage. The straight 7f course is downhill until the junction with the round course, and this section can become very heavy at times. There is an uphill stretch for the next two furlongs or so until levelling out some way before the finish. The back straight is generally a steady climb.
National Hunt: The chase course is not watered but the hurdles course is shared with the flat track which is watered during the summer. This can lead to noticeable differences in the going description, particularly where the courses meet.
Leicester Racecourse Address: Oadby, Leicester, LE2 4AL.

Leicester is slightly undulating but has a long straight and is a track where the top Newmarket stables like to send some of their better maidens looking for racecourse experience without having a long journey in the horsebox.
On the jumping scene, the fences are not easy, particularly on heavier ground, so look for well-balanced horses whose jumping is sound. Be wary of keen horses on soft ground as they may struggle to get home.
