Elon Musk remains the betting favourite for the award this year

Elon Musk is still the outright favourite to win the Time Person of the Year award after a busy 2023 has seen him once again dominate news headlines.

Musk is the owner of social media platform X, which has rebranded from Twitter, and his ownership of the social media platform has been a big story throughout the year.

The businessman has won the Time Person of the Year award before as recently as 2021 with Time editor-in-chief Edward Felsenthal speaking about the award.

“In 2021, Musk emerged not just as the world’s richest person but also as perhaps the richest example of a massive shift in our society," said Felsenthal at the time.
