Irish actor Cillian Murphy is now the 5/4 favourite with bookmakers to win the Best Actor award at the 2024 Oscars for his starring role in Oppenheimer.
Murphy plays J. Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic about the scientist who developed the atomic bomb during the second World War.
The performance ticks a lot of the boxes for previous Best Actor winners with 6 of the last 10 winning performances from actors who have portrayed real people.
Critics have praised Murphy's role as Oppenheimer and the latest betting odds suggest that there's a 44% chance of him winning the award.

Leonardo DiCaprio is second favourite for the Best Actor award at next year's Oscars ceremony for his lead role in the Martin Scorsese movie Killers of the Flower Moon.
The film has yet to be released with it's pencilled in release date 20 October 2023 but that hasn't stopped bookies from placing DiCaprio as one of the favourites for Best Actor.
DiCaprio finally won his Best Actor award back in 2016 for his role as Hugh Glass in the movie The Revenant and 8 years on he could be on for another award.
