Volodymyr Zelenskyy is now just 1/5 to win the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize

Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskyy is now as short as 1/5 to win this year's Nobel Peace Prize award with bookmakers slashing his odds from 6/1 earlier this year.

Zelenskyy was nominated for the award last year "for counteracting Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine" but he wasn't picked to win the award.

Last year's award though was jointly awarded to Ales Bialiatski, Memorial and the Center for Civil Liberties for their efforts around war crimes, human rights abuses and the abuse of power.

The betting odds now say that there's an 83% chance that Zelenskyy wins the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize for his work as Ukrainian president as the war with Russia continues.

Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Winner Odds Probability
Volodymyr Zelenskyy 1/5 83.3%
Alexei Navalny 12/1 7.7%
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya 12/1 7.7%
Ilham Tohtil 12/1 7.7%
Greta Thunberg 12/1 7.7%
What the expert says..

Volodymyr Zelenskyy's odds to win the Nobel Peace Prize have been slashed heavily now from 6/1 to just 1/5 to win the award with bookmakers expecting him to do so for his efforts as Ukrainian President.

Greta Thunberg is joint second favourite for the award at 12/1

Greta Thunberg has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the last four years in a row and it would be no surprise to see more of the same this year.

Last year's nomination reasoning for Thunberg was "for her tireless work to make politicians open their eyes to global climate crisis".

Thunberg is joint second favourite for this year's award with four other contenders at 12/1 but Zelenskyy is a clear heavy favourite.

Japanese writer Haruki Murakami is the 8/1 favourite to win the Nobel Prize for Literature with his recent release 'The City and Its Uncertain Walls' coming out earlier this year.

Murakami was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature back in May which is Spain's top arts prize and that has seen bookies change the betting market to put him as favourite.

Ladbrokes have more odds for the Prize which will be handed out later this year along with the Nobel Peace Prize.

2023 Nobel Literature Prize Winner Odds Probability
Haruki Murakami 8/1 11.1%
Can Xue 10/1 9.1%
Gerald Murnane 12/1 7.7%
Jon Fosse 12/1 7.7%
Lyudmila Ulitskaya 12/1 7.7%
Thomas Pynchon 12/1 7.7%
What the expert says..

Haruki Murakami is the latest favourite to win the Nobel Literature Prize with the award set to be announced later this year!
