Latest odds say that there's a 69% chance Man United are sold in 2023 after Glazers announced intentions to sell club
Tuesday was a whirlwind day for Manchester United with the announcement that Cristiano Ronaldo had left the club and their owners were "on a process to explore strategic options".
Bookies say there is a 69% chance that the club is sold at some point in 2023 and it looks increasingly likely following the Glazers statement on Tuesday evening.
Smarkets give odds of 4/9 that 2023 is the year that a takeover happens at Old Trafford with 3/1 given that it doesn't happen until 2024 or later.
When will Manchester United's takeover happen? | Odds | Probability |
---|---|---|
2022 | 5/1 | 16.7% |
2023 | 4/9 | 69.2% |
2024 or later | 3/1 | 33.3% |
There have been a few reports that have suggested that the Glazers are after a quick sale of the club but 2022 will seemingly be too soon for such a large takeover.
The figures that have been in circulation value the club at around £5 billion and would be the second Premier League club to be sold after Chelsea this season.
After Manchester United's statement last night announced that the Glazer family were working on a process to explore strategic options going forward, bookies now give a 69% chance that a takeover happens of the club in 2023.

Elon Musk has flirted with buying Man United and is 9/2 to buy a Premier League side next
It’s 9/2 that Elon Musk buys a Premier League club as his next investment choice and it’s something that he has flirted with in the past on Twitter.
Back in August this year, Musk tweeted that he was buying Manchester United but since stated that he was just joking.
After one Twitter user asked if he was being serious Musk tweeted it was a long running joke and that he wouldn’t be buying any sports clubs.
