  • Jesse Marsch takes over Leeds United with the side on 23 points from their first 26 games
  • Marcelo Bielsa was dismissed as Leeds manager last week after poor run of form saw United slip down the table
  • Leeds are now 7/4 to be relegated from the Premier League this season with the bottom of the table looking tight

Jesse Marsch looking for strong start at Leeds

With his new side shipping goals all over the show under the previous regime, Jesse Marsch as the next Leeds United Manager will be looking for a positive start.

Currently sitting on 23 points from their first 26 games, Leeds are 17 points off the magical 40 points that most teams aim for.

Leeds United Betting Specials Odds Probability
Leeds to stay in the PL this season 2/5 71.4%
Leeds to be relegated from the PL this season 7/4 36.4%
Leeds to beat either Man City or Chelsea this season 11/4 26.7%
Leeds to finish on 40 points this season 7/2 22.2%

Bookies give Leeds a 71.4% chance to stay up this season judging by the odds, with relegation at 36.4% in comparison.

The Yorkshire club still have Man City and Chelsea to play this year and are 11/4 to beat either side in the league.

At odds of 2/5 with bookmakers, it looks increasingly likely that Leeds will stay up in the Premier League this season. The signing of Jesse Marsch hasn't seen any movement in those odds.

Marcelo Bielsa was dismissed as Leeds manager last week

Argentinian Marcelo Bielsa was sacked as Leeds United manager last week after a tricky run of games saw them lose their last four, conceding 17 in those games.

Bielsa was a popular manager amongst players and fans, with the talisman inspiring the club towards promotion to the Premier League two years ago.

Reports stated that the Leeds players were "heartbroken" over Bielsa's dismissal, which could impact them going forward in their quest for safety this year.

What is evident though is that Jesse Marsch has massive shoes to fill after Bielsa's role, and it's hard to see if the fans will back him in the remainder of the season.

Who will be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, or will the 2/1 about no further departures be the best bet?

Leeds now 7/4 to be relegated

The relegation battle at the bottom of the Premier League is extremely tight this year with 7 teams realistically still with a chance of going down.

With the coronavirus pandemic still around, the majority of the 7 teams have played a different amount of games due to cancellations.

This makes the race even more interesting with games in hand making the potential for change in the table happen at any point.

Position Team Games Played Goal Difference Points
14th Newcastle 25 -17 25
15th Brentford 27 -17 24
16th Leeds 26 -31 23
17th Everton 24 -13 22
18th Burnley 25 -10 21
19th Watford 26 -22 19
20th Norwich 26 -40 17

Goal difference could always come into play when it comes to relegation, with some teams tight in terms of goals this year.

Norwich are well ahead of everyone else with -40 on their goal difference, and 5 points off safety, means they're 1/12 to go down.

Leeds are 7/4 to be relegated this season but currently sit outside of the drop zone in the Premier League.
