  • Ukraine win Eurovision and should host as per protocol, but infrastructure concerns lead bookmakers to offer odds on alternative host countries
  • Ukraine say Mariupol will host the 2023 competition, although it seems unlikely
  • UK priced at just 10/1 to win Eurovision in 2023

The dust has settled on both the expected result of Eurovision 2022 in Ukraine winning, and the shock that the UK went from last place with zero points in 2021, to runner up spot 1 year later, and now betting sites are already offering odds on how might win in 2023, but also taking into consideration as the conditions and ability of Ukraine to host as winners in 2023, alternative host countries should they not be able to commit to the expense and security of such an event.

It has always been a tradition for the winning country of Eurovision to host the next finals, but it will have escaped no one's notice that Ukraine would be the most unlikely destination for a major event such as the Eurovision sing content right now, and there are no guarantees the situation may change within 12 month.

Ukraine remains 2/1 favourite to host Eurovision in 2023 with Mariupol as the host city, despite infrastructure concerns, but bookmakers are offering odds on which country could step in as surrogate host should security not permit the winners hosting

To this end, betting sites have opened betting on where the next final may be hosted. Ukraine remains favourites as default hosts, but the UK, Italy and Poland are all in the running to step in as surrogate hosts

UK and Ireland at Eurovision 2023

Of course, it is never too early to begin to speculate on how Eurovision 2023 might pan out and there may be some value to be had betting ahead of time, and should you wish to, it is possible to get a price of 10/1 on the UK to go one better than 2022 and win in 2023, wherever the event may be held. In scoring in excess of 400 points they outstripped the 380 points the bookmakers had predicted this year.

By the same token, they are just 14/1 to repeat 2021 and finish stone last.

The UK are given odds of just 10/1 to go one better than the runner up spot at Eurovision in 2022, and win the entire event in 2023 with a chance of hosting it in place of Ukraine too

And what of Ireland?

Ireland have had a terrible time of things of late in the competition, failing to qualify for the finals in 2022 and in fact, they have not appeared in a finals show since 2018, and that being the only time since 2013. The former Eurovision powerhouse have had a stunning fall from grace and as such ar 40/1 to win next year, but given a better than 50% chance of getting to the final at least.
