Vienna Hosts Landmark Eurovision Semi-Final

Eurovision 2026 continues in Vienna on May 14, with Semi-Final 2 taking centre stage at the Wiener Stadthalle as part of the competition’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

Organised by Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) and hosted by Victoria Swarovski and Michael Ostrowski, alongside Emily Busvine in the green room, the second semi-final brings another 15 countries into the spotlight, all competing for just 10 places in Saturday’s Grand Final.

As with the first semi-final, pre-qualified nations Austria, France and the United Kingdom will perform and vote on the night, adding further intrigue to an already competitive field.

Bet365's latest market has Australia as the favourite to win the second semi-final.

Australia Leads an Open and Competitive Heat

Unlike Semi-Final 1, where one act dominated the betting, this market feels far more fluid.

Australia’s position at the top reflects strong early backing, but there’s little margin for error with Denmark sitting close behind at 15/8.

Ukraine at 7/2 adds further depth to the leading group, and all three are expected to qualify comfortably.

The question is less about progression and more about who can deliver the standout performance on the night to take top spot.

Romania appears best placed to challenge from outside the leading trio, while the rest of the field is priced more as qualification hopefuls than realistic semi-final winners.

What the expert says...
There’s no dominant act here. Australia deserves to be favourite, but Denmark is right there and Ukraine has that proven Eurovision appeal. This could go any way on the night.

Running Order and Momentum Could Be Key

With such a tightly priced market, small details could make a significant difference.

The running order sees Bulgaria open the show and Norway close it, with several of the favourites performing in strong mid-to-late positions.

That could play a role in voting patterns, particularly in a semi-final where margins are expected to be tight.

Eurovision history shows that standout staging and memorable moments often outweigh pre-show expectations, meaning even mid-range contenders could still break into the top 10 with the right performance.

Outright Market Still Led by Finland

Looking beyond the semi-final, the outright Eurovision winner market remains unchanged from earlier in the week, with Finland continuing to lead the way.

France6/114.29%

Australia’s position at 7/1 highlights its potential to go beyond this semi-final, while Denmark’s relatively strong outright price suggests confidence in its ability to contend deep into the competition.
