I break betting odds news as it happens, so you’re never left behind when the market moves or a top offer lands.

  • Finland are the 6/4 favourites with Ladbrokes to win Eurovision 2026 in Vienna, with Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen's "Liekinheitin" impressing in rehearsals at the Wiener Stadthalle ahead of the May 16 final
  • Greece are second in the market at 7/2, with Denmark at 6/1 and Australia 7/1
  • The UK are a distant 150/1 outsider in a market dominated by Nordic and southern European nations, with the 70th edition of the contest taking place against the backdrop of a reduced field of just 35 participating countries

Vienna Calling Next Week

The 70th Eurovision Song Contest is almost upon us, and bookmakers have rarely had a clearer frontrunner heading into a final weekend.

Ladbrokes have priced up the full winner market ahead of the Grand Final at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on Saturday May 16, and Finland have emerged as dominant favourites on the back of a performance in rehearsals that has sent the Eurovision betting community into a frenzy.

This year's contest is the 70th edition of the most-watched non-sporting television event in the world, and it comes with its own unique backdrop.

A reduced field of 35 countries, the smallest since 2003, takes to the stage in Vienna after five broadcasters, including Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain, opted not to participate in protest at Israel's inclusion.

Finland: Can Liekinheitin Fire Its Way to a Second Eurovision Victory?

Finland's story heading into Vienna is one of the most compelling of this year's contest.

Linda Lampenius, a 56-year-old violin virtuoso and former child prodigy who became one of Finland's best-selling classical artists, has joined forces with Pete Parkkonen, a pop and soul singer who first came to prominence on Finnish Idol in 2008.

Together, they have created something genuinely unlike anything else in this year's competition.

"Liekinheitin", which translates from Finnish as "Flamethrower", is a genre-blending powerhouse, combining elements of rock, classical and dance music into a track that divided opinion when it was first unveiled and has since become one of the most talked-about entries in recent Eurovision memory.

Their victory at Finland's national selection show UMK was historic in itself as they received 55.80% of the televote, beating the previous UMK record held by Käärijä, and scored 570 points overall, a UMK record.

The unanimous verdict from both jury and public is the kind of mandate that tends to translate into Eurovision success.

Greece, Australia and the Each-Way Market

With Ladbrokes offering each-way terms of 1/5 the odds for places one through four, the Eurovision market becomes considerably more interesting beyond the frontrunner.

Greece at 7/2 are the most credible challenger to Finland, and at 22.2% implied probability the market clearly considers them a genuine threat.

Greece have a rich Eurovision history and the passionate televote support that so often proves decisive when the public phones start ringing on Grand Final night.

Denmark at 6/1 and Australia at 7/1 both represent compelling each-way propositions. Australia's continued involvement in the contest, a quirk that never quite loses its novelty, has been consistently backed by a global diaspora vote that makes them a reliable each-way option in betting terms.

France at 10/1 will feel their Big Five automatic final qualification gives them a platform to outperform their pre-contest odds, while Sweden at 28/1 looks surprisingly generous for a nation with the most Eurovision victories of any country.

The UK at 150/1 is a reflection of recent history. Despite Sam Ryder's extraordinary second-place finish in 2022, British entries have historically struggled to convert domestic enthusiasm into the continental jury and televote support that determines the winner.

At 0.7% implied probability, even the most patriotic British punter would struggle to make a serious case for that bet.

What the expert says...
Finland at 6/4 is a short price but there is genuine substance behind it as Liekinheitin is unlike anything else in this year's field, the rehearsal reports out of Vienna have been exceptional, and their UMK victory was the most emphatic in the show's history. If you are backing Finland to win, I would not argue with you.
