Haruki Murakami is the 8/1 favourite to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2023

Japanese writer Haruki Murakami is the 8/1 favourite with bookmakers to win the Nobel Prize for Literature with his recent release 'The City and Its Uncertain Walls' released earlier this year.

Murakami was awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for Literature back in May which is Spain's top arts prize and that has seen bookies change the betting market to put him as favourite.

Chinese fiction writer Can Xue was previously the 7/1 favourite to win the award but has since drifted out to 10/1 to win with a 9% chance according to the odds.

Ladbrokes have a full market up for the Nobel Prize for Literature with a whole host of contenders up for the award which will be handed out in October.

When is the Nobel Prize for Literature awarded?

The 2023 Nobel Prize for Literature winner is set to be announced later this year on 5 October 2023 by the Swedish Academy in Sweden.
