Nolimit City slots are loved by avid slot players and are a popular choice at UK slot sites. Games such as Tombstone RIP, San Quentin, Fire in the Hole and Serial are amongst the most played online. Below are all Q&A interviews with Per Lindheimer, Head of Product at Nolimit City.
Tombstone Slaughter Q&A (January 2025)
This Q&A with Per Lindheimer is about the newly-released Tombstone Slaughter slot. The fourth Tombstone game is a sequel of sorts to Tombstone RIP. Offering 500,000 times bet max wins, it’s the highest max win slot ever produced.
Q: What is the inspiration behind Tombstone Slaughter? I see El Gordo’s daughter is out for revenge.
PL: “Inspiration is of course the end scene in Tombstone RIP. It's time for vengeance. El Gordo's daughter has grown up, with a fire for vengeance all her life - missing El Gordo and his blood runs in her veins. It's almost two decades later and time for revenge on the entire town.”
Q: How does Tombstone Slaughter differ from Tombstone RIP?
PL: “Tombstone Slaughter and Tombstone RIP are quite close in the sense that they do have xRIP, xNudge and a massive max win - that's where it ends on a mechanical point of view.
Tombstone Slaughter is a way different approach to the free spins journey, which is a collect and keep building those bigger xNudge starting multipliers along with added spins. The revolver, with a huge amount of features, will give you that extra oumph to get that massive win you're looking for.
The art style has been completely been redone, to differ from both Tombstone RIP but also Deadwood RIP. It's a more mature take on it all, and one of our most visually stunning games so far.”
Q: What new mechanics or bonus features can we expect in Tombstone Slaughter?
PL: “Already touched on the mechanics in the game, but in the Massacre Spins, you'll see the Quick Draw feature guaranteed for all spins. Holy moly that can line up in really good ways! Boothill Multiplier and Justice Wild along with the other features are something to enjoy.”
Q: Is Tombstone Slaughter the highest volatility slot game Nolimit City has produced to date?
PL: “It's not our highest in terms of variance/volatility, that's actually San Quentin 2: Death Row. Even Tombstone RIP is slightly higher, since that max win triggers every 1 in 130 million spins.”
Q: 500,000 x bet max wins. Wow! How can it be won?
PL: “The 500,000 x bet max win can be won from main game, but you'll need to trigger the Slaughter Spins (most likely) then upgrade to the Massacre Spins: but any spin can trigger this behemoth go on a vengeance streak.”
Q: Are there any plans for an even higher max win slot game?
PL: “Who knows if we'll go even higher, but personally it would be fun to see how we'd take on a game to offer 1 million times bet max wins. Not sure anyone wants it though as the casinos will be scared of it, that's for sure.”
Q: Can we expect more sequels in 2025?
PL: “We'll see some more sequels in 2025, we've got a solid portfolio of really liked games that deserves a "pick me up" - Mental 2 is the closest one in the roadmap, but we've got a few other that might make it in 2025. We need to make sure to be fresh as well, not just churn old titles. We need new concepts and IPs that we can build on to still stay relevant.”
Generic Q&A (September 2024)
Per Lindheimer, sat down with OLBG’s very own Chris Taylor for a generic interview which looks at how slot games are created and what the ideation process is like and what are their most popular slots. They also discuss slot sequels and future plans.
Q: How has 2024 gone for Nolimit City so far?
PL: “It’s been awesome. We’ve had some smashing titles and we’ve finally moved into making proper sequels. Diving back into old loved ones like Punk Rocker and San Quentin is always daunting and fun. Fire in the Hole 2 was a dead given, and it was also a little easier when we’ve already done follow-ups like Misery Mining and Dead Canary. These titles have been very good to us - but our new titles have been very well received in the slots community as well. Something new, something familiar and something really crazy (looking at you Ken…).”
Q: How are new slot games created? What’s the process? Does the team search the dark web for twisted themes/ideas?
PL: “We’ve got three legs that fall in the games portfolio of Nolimit City - Labs, classic Nolimit City and also Over the Limit. They’re all Nolimit City of course, but they’re created to give the player and also the casino a hunch of what to expect. Over the Limit is the craziest of the crazy, like Kenneth Must Die or Mental. Provocative themes, high max exposures and games where we try to push the boundaries.
Then we’ve got the classic Nolimit City - games which are more catered to being familiar with what we’ve done in the past, but of course with new shit every time - we just don’t make it way off the scales with max exposure or brand new mechanics which no-one has seen before.
We’ve also got Labs, which is where we can do some new sh*t - but within the Nolimit aura, but mechanics can be quite new and off, and we’re a bit more loose in terms of choice of theme at times, but it’s mainly aimed at wicked mechanics.
We try to push ourselves and remind each other that we want to do something new and unique for our games - regardless of what bracket they fall into. Ideas come from anywhere - in a discussion with a colleague, from brainstorming fun game names or just inspiration that pops up when you watch a movie or TV series. Most games - theme or mechanics - are just a seed in the beginning, and then the team helps form it to its finished product.”
Q: What are Nolimit City’s most popular slot games? Are there any that are particularly popular only in the UK?
PL: “There’s a bunch of them that keep fighting for the top spot - but Mental is an old classic that continues to be very popular. Fire in the Hole and Fire in the Hole 2 are also very popular, fun to see the uptake on the new sequel of course. A surprising one might be The Crypt, which has a huge following in specific markets and the amount of rounds on that one is amazing. It doesn’t get as much time in the spotlight as the other titles I’ve mentioned above.
UK isn’t that different from any other market to be honest: even these poor sods can’t use our bonus buys. Mental, Fire in the Hole 1 & 2, xWays Hoarder - and of course Punk Rocker 2 was very well received, even though it moved the theme from London to New York…”
Q: What % of players play on mobile vs desktop devices?
PL: “Depends on what market, but it’s a fair assessment to say about 75% mobile and 25% desktop. UK is even higher than 75% on mobile, probably around 85+%. Mobile is very strong in most markets, there’s not many that have more action on desktop than mobile..”
Q: With slot sequels trending, what sequels can we expect in future?
PL: “Well, next up is San Quentin 2: Death Row and also Blood & Shadow 2 - two popular titles in the UK as well. San Quentin is a game which screams Nolimit City and Blood and Shadow is a very different type of game from what we usually do - but the difference between them is what makes it fun to produce games. You’ll see some more sequels in 2025, but I’ll keep that under wraps for a few more months. Is there any specific title you’d like to see?.”
CT: “Thanks for the insight. San Quentin 2 will surely pique the interest of many players because the first game was such a hit. I’d love to see a Kenneth Must Die sequel as I’d be keen to see how far NLC can push the theme/story.”
Q: NLC offers somewhat controversial themes/graphics. Is this because players’ needs have changed over the years?
PL: “It’s what we wanna do. And also what’s been very well received by the players of course. We always take a lot of inspiration from pop culture and we wanna make slot games for an adult audience - I don’t think it’s very controversial in that sense. We love doing more fun stuff with the themes than the standard (and boring) themes like Egypt and Fruits. It’s just not us.”
Q: Will NLC create a slot game with bigger win potential than Tombstone RIP?
PL: “Yes.”
300,000 x bet max wins
Q: What is your favourite xMechanic and why?
PL: “xNudge. Potent, fun - always makes my heart run when I hit it. It brings potential, high hit rates and takes down the pace in a fun way when we animate it.”
Q: What Nolimit City slot are you proudest of and why?
PL: “Can’t say all of them, that’s for sure. I’ve got a number of slots which I’ve got a soft spot for - so I’ll bring up a new one that I usually don’t mention that often - it’s xWays Hoarder xSplit. A very fun game to play!”
Q: What challenges does Nolimit City face with regard to regulation in the UK?
PL: “Tons. We’re used to challenges with regulations, and there are a few things I do not agree with in this jurisdiction that they deem is in the player's best interest. My biggest concern is always that these games are made for an audience of 18+, and it’s always very much closed down in these regulated markets for anyone below that age to be able to play - but why o’ why are non-adult themes ok, but more badass themes not allowed?! Why is a funny-looking dog or a colourful candy bar more ok than an immature joke?”
Q: What can we expect from Nolimit City for the rest of the year and beyond?
PL: “Tons. We’ll continue with our weird ideas and games but will sprinkle it with some highly anticipated sequels. We’re on a high right now and will work hard to keep it that way. Hopefully, we can make games that the players like and recognise. I’m far from done!”
