Test Comments
Just WOW!! - NoLimit City has done it with the best slot release since, Folsom Prison, The Crypt is once again an expected original, a great soundtrack and the 100 spins test could not have gone much better I am sure - My only regret? I did this test in Demo mode!
So, 30 winning spins from 100 are high frequency, but regardless of volatility level [this one is Extreme], this is expected from NLC games to keep the action going, and boy was there some action here.
This game's stated average free spins frequency is 1 in 377 or something like that. I hit it twice at spin 6 and spin 51, paying a respective 92x on the first and then 314.95x on the second - Not only that but I also landed a 39.2x base game win as well - [See what i mean about regretting playing the demo for the test!?], returning a session RTP of a ridiculous 491.80%
Of course, we know NLC can do this and do the opposite with equal venom, so tread carefully as always, but yeah, regardless of the result, this is a very awesome mechanic and set-up for MLC's latest release
The Crypt Expert Review
Game Data
I didn't read the game info before playing for the first time. And after a few seconds, I looked at the reels and thought ‘hey that guy looks like Kurt Cobain..ahh hang on a sec, it is Kurt Cobain. And hey there’s Jimi Hendrix too! To be fair, they are zombie versions but the likeness is clear. The game takes you on a hair-raising rock n’ roll journey with some of the best singers of all time.
Besides the xNudge Wild mentioned in the summary, the xWays feature is superb. Here, a mystery symbol can hold 2 to 3 of the same symbols inside and they expand the reels. The xWays Symbols can show up on any of the reels. And they expand a reel up to an impressive 6 symbols high.
With our in-depth review of The Crypt, you’ll be able to read about every aspect of this new release. So let's crack on.

Graphics, Music, and Sound Effects
The game has a perfect blend of rock and goth featuring plenty of black befitting a concert taking place in a spooky graveyard. The rock star images on the reels are instantly recognisable and there are gothic touches used across the game in various shades of dark, gloomy colours.
As you’d expect for a game featuring the greatest rock stars of all time the music is bang on. And the sound effects wouldn't be out of place in a horror film. These include eerie piano music, birds cawing plus the sound of a haunting electric guitar solo being played far, far away.
Key Features
Now that I’ve covered the summary, intro, graphics, music, and sound effects, next up I’ll talk about the key game features. This should help you decide if The Crypt slot game is a yay or a nay.
At OLBG we write slot games reviews that include accurate info about a game’s essential features such as paylines, reels, bet range and bonuses. Stay put if you’d like to read about my first impressions and expert verdict.
Theme – Rock Stars
Jimi Hendrix once said that ‘music is my religion.’ Well, during this game you'll see him and the other greats perform one last gig. Not at the musical meccas of New York’s Carnegie Hall or the O2 Arena in London but in the dead of night in a creepy crypt.
The background image shows a spooky cemetery filled with derelict graves and the obligatory raven making ‘caw caw’ sounds.
On the reels you’ll see some familiar faces (albeit the zombified versions). In order of value these start at the top with Elvis, Lemmy, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Amy Winehouse and Jimi Hendrix. These are followed by gothic-looking lower-value symbols of A, K, Q, J, 10 & 9.
The colour palette used across the game is in shades of grey and black to really set the melancholic vibe. Special symbols include a Scatter symbol shown on the reels by a purple moon. Plus some of Nolimit City’s trademarked feature symbols such as xWays and xNudge.
The music is very rock n’ roll, especially when you enter the Resurrection Spins bonus round.
Reels
The Crypt slot game has a classic 6 reel by 4 rows setup. However, during xWays Feature the reels can expand up to 6 symbols high.
Paylines
During the basic game there are 4,096 ways to win. However, when xWays is triggered and the reels expand, paylines go up to a huge 46,656 ways to win.
RTP
Skip this section if you’re a seasoned slot player. But it’s always worth including an explanation of RTP in a slot game review. You’ve probably seen Return To Player referred to as RTP on slot sites. This is a way of measuring what percentage of stakes will be returned to players over the long run. The number is usually somewhere between 94% and 96%. The Crpyt slot game is ever-so-slightly above average at 96.05%.
Like most game providers, Nolimit City has a range of values they offer to operators. The highest rate is 96.05% which I’ve already mentioned. There are also RTP rates of 94.01% and 92.15% at some of the popular UK online casinos. However, we’ve saved you the job of searching for the best RTP rates and have selected a few sites -and added them to the table below.
When deciding which sites to play at there’s more than RTP to think about. Factors such as payment options, game library, customer support, welcome bonuses and deals and mobile optimisations are also important. Our casino reviews analyse these factors for you.
Casino | RTP% | Review |
---|---|---|
All British Casino | 96.05 | Read Now |
Kwiff | 96.05 | Read Now |
Dream Vegas | 96.05 | Read Now |
The Grand Ivy | 96.05 | Read Now |
Las Vegas Casino | 96.05 | Read Now |
Nowadays most players enjoy trying more than one game. Because of this, we decided to create a page with the slot sites we recommend. If you’re a UK player you can launch one of these titles straight away, there are literally hundreds to choose from.
Stake Range
There's a wide bet range for The Crypt that starts at £0.20 and goes right up to £100.
Max Win
The max win element of the game has been named Dead Rising. And it’s excellent news regarding the amount as it’s a mega 27,000 x your stake. This is one of the largest amounts I’ve seen in a while. Nolimit City’s maximum win numbers always link to a theme in the game. so I’m guessing the 27-figure links to the ‘27 Club. ’ This refers to a group of icons who died at the age of 27. Members of the club include Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Brian Jones.
Wild Symbol
The Wild Shape for The Crypt game is the xNudge Wild. When a Wild lands it will drop down to the bottom position on the reels and will increase a payout multiplier for every step it drops. Next, it expands to cover the entire reel. If this is combined with the xWays symbol, the payout multiplier can increase to a notable x6. You’ll find the xNudge Wild Symbols on reels 2-5. If you manage to trigger multiple consecutive xNudge Wilds the multipliers are added up to a total win multiplier. To give you an example of this - if you trigger x3 + x1 multipliers you’ll receive x4 multiplier. Also, a Wild symbol substitutes for any symbol apart from the Scatter Symbol.
Free Spins
The Resurrection Spins round is triggered when 3 Scatter Symbols show up on the reels in the base game. When you enter the round you’ll receive 10 free spins. If any additional Scatter Symbols show up you’ll receive 3 more spins.
What’s great is that a minimum of one xWays Symbol is guaranteed on each initial cascade in the free spins bonus mode. There are some nice extra details here. Such as every fourth winning cascade will turn one of the five dead legends into Wilds for the rest of the bonus round and award an extra 2 spins. Plus, if you have a win on the highest paying symbol it will award a +1x multiplier on that symbol.
Play Experience & First Impressions
Nolimit City is such a recognisable slot brand now that it’s obvious which company has created it as soon as you start playing.
Expert Verdict
I've written a few slot reviews for Nolimit City and it’s no secret that I’m a big fan. I’m always happy to check out their latest game as I enjoy something a bit different. Am I going to be disappointed one day? Probably. However, I'm delighted to report that today is not that day.
Do you know the old saying ‘legends never die?’ Well, Nolimit City tells us that ‘it turns out ‘they’ were right! It just took a Nolimit slot to get the world’s greatest and most decomposed stars together for one last ride - to produce one extremely volatile banger. It’s a great idea to combine rock stars with such a dark gothic theme. Nolimit City is one of the best around at storytelling. This story element is definitely strong for this one and importantly, it’s entertaining.
The most important selling point for a slot game is the features. The Crypt certainly doesn't disappoint on this score. The XWays Fearure was enjoyable where the Mystery Symbol expands the reel meaning literally thousands of ways to win (46,656 to be exact). A couple of times I triggered the Wild Symbol here and that added another layer of excitement to the mix.
The cascade details during the Resurrection Spins were fun as every fourth-winning cascade turned one of the five dead legends into Wilds for the rest of the bonus round. You can see this in the bar when you play. Plus during this round, you can receive extra spins which happened a few times to me.
I enjoy multipliers and these are in the XNudge Wilds Feature. When you land a Wild it drops down to the bottom position on the reels and increases a payout multiplier for every step it drops which was cool.
The max win of 27,000x is a huge amount and I loved the 27 club reference as some of my favourite singers feature in this game. Like most Nolimit City’s games, this has an extremely high volatility which might not be everyone's cup of tea but it makes sense with such a large max win amount.
It’s safe to say that I would 100% recommend The Crypt slot game to you. I love the rock n’ roll vibe, music and story and importantly the features were fun and straightforward. Rock on!
