Grand Ivy First Impression

This Grand Ivy review was conducted across the desktop and mobile versions of the site, although there is no dedicated app to download.

If an online casino wants to convey the look and feel of a hotel casino, or a bricks and mortar location you can safely assume that there will be plenty of black and gold, and that’s the case here. That aside, the homepage is far more interactive than a lot of other casinos. You can choose how games are displayed (with three different options, grid, list, or a combination of both), and some of the game tiles are actually little animations. It’s immediately clear that a lot of time and effort has gone into this as a product.

What is great about Grand Ivy

As mentioned above, the site looks great, but as soon as you start using it you realise that it acts great, too. I absolutely love the homepage and when you move through the sitemap, even though you’re landing on different pages/URLS, it never actually feels or appears as though you have left the homepage, it just feels like it has updated. It’s a really slick operation. 

As expected, there is a really good live dealer offering here, and I also like the constantly updating Latest Winners tab on the left seeing which games, with amounts, have just netted winners.

What is not great about Grand Ivy

There isn’t a lot in the way of promotions, as discussed below in more detail.

It’s important to stress that the promotions at Grand Ivy change regularly, so what’s there now will almost certainly change. This is okay, but not much more. There is a welcome offer that’s decent, and there are some big prize giveaways for tens of thousands of pounds, but there’s nothing in the way of earning extra spins, or reward points, or anything that properly rewards loyalty from customers. In addition, I’m always a little wary of promotion pages that list things that aren’t actually promotions – in this case the fact that there are Microgaming games, and you can play on your mobile (but no app). All in all it’s pretty limited.

Where to start? Firstly, there are over 2,300 of the best slot games at Grand Ivy, which is a frankly enormous amount. This is pretty good from Grand Ivy, with a decent amount of different game show live studio games. There is, of course, Gonzo’s Treasure Hunt and Funky Time Live, as with most online casinos in the UK, but there is also Dream Catcher First Person, Game Shows Lobby, Dream Catcher and Vegas Ball Bonanza, among others.

It’s a similar story for roulette as it is with blackjack, in that there is a really good selection of live games, as well as a smattering of standard versions. It’s a clear conscious decision from Grand Ivy to put more effort into their live offerings for table games, which makes sense to me, as that’s where there is more excitement generally. Sometimes when you see a small games library you discover that they’re all from one provider and lack a degree of variance. All the games here are from Slingo. They provide 35 titles to Grand Ivy, and although I said I don’t love it when small collections are just provided by one developer, I think that actually changes for slingo games (and scratchcards), where there are a few smaller providers who specialise in them. This is really good from Grand Ivy. I cannot speak of the navigation and user experience at Grand Ivy highly enough. It’s so good. It does make me wonder if this is part of the reason that there is no app, because the desktop and mobile version work so well – who knows? There is a little bit of stalling when you move to different game types but this is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
