Collapsing Mine

In the base game, you will begin with 6 reels and 3 rows (with 486 ways to win). When you land a winning combination, a Collapse occurs. With each Collapse, an additional row is active with up to 6 rows possible. Each row gives you more ways to win:

Collapses are caused by winning combinations, an xBomb Wild explosion or a Wild Mining feature trigger. When they occur, winning symbols award the win and are removed from the reels which allows a Collapse to take place. Empty positions on the reels are filled with new symbols falling from above allowing for the chance to win again and again. It’s otherwise known as Avalanches or Cascades which feature in most Megaways slots.

xBomb Wild Multiplier

Keep an eye out for xBomb Wild symbols landing as they substitute for all paying symbols. They also explode and remove adjacent/nearby symbols (except Bonus Scatters) as well as increasing the win multiplier by its value for the following Collapse.

All xBomb Wild Multiplier symbols explode before the next Collapse except in the case of the Wild Mining feature (more details next).

Wild Mining

When 3 or more of the same kind of symbols appear vertically or horizontally with no winning combination formed, the Wild Mining feature is activated. The triggering symbols are replaced with xBomb Wilds in the middle position where the symbols are aligned.

3, 4, 5 or 6 symbols will be replaced by 1, 2, 3 or 4 xBomb Wilds respectively. All positions above the line explode unless a Bonus Scatter or xBomb Wild appears rewarding you with a Collapse which could in turn lead to more collapses and wins.

Buried Symbols

Look out for symbols buried in the dirt. Appearing in the base game, these will unveil an xBomb Wild, Bonus Scatter or xSplit symbol. These symbols buried in the dirty are inactive until the dirt block they are contained in is removed or hit by an xSplit feature.

xSplit

There are xSplit symbols which, when appearing, split symbols on its row which doubles the number of ways to win. Symbols splitting into 8 or more will be shown with a multiplier instead due to space restrictions.

When all xSplit symbols are active, they will all transform into 1 of the regular paying symbols. Dirt blocks affected by the xSplit feature will be removed if there is a Collapse. Bonus Scatters and xSplit symbols cannot be split.

Finally, other NLC slots to use the xSplit feature include Serial and The Border.

Lucky Wagon Spins

The Fire in the Hole 2 slot is all about the Lucky Wagon Spins feature. It’s triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 Golden Nugget Bonus Scatter symbols which award 2, 3 or 4 rows active respectively.

Beginning with 3 spins, each coin that lands will reset your spins tally back to 3. All coin values award bet multiplier prizes. There is a top row that will unveil enhancers/modifiers. An enhancer becomes active when a coin lands on the reel under the enhancer. Here is what the enhancers entail:

• Coin Value: displays a bet multiplier value.
• Multipliers: multipliers the value of all coins on the reel under the enhancer.
• Dynamite: adds the dynamite’s count to the value of the triggering coin. It then throws the dynamite’s count on reel positions. Then it removes the dirty symbol if it lands on it. Finally, it doubles coin values or activates a chest.
• Beer: reactivates up to 5 old coins which causes them to trigger their enhancers for the next spin. The triggering coin gets a 1 x bet value increase.
• Dwarf: the dwarf collects all coin values on the reel area at the triggering coin position.  

Additionally, you’ll notice a bottom/7^th row that can upgrade symbols on every spin. All coins from the enhancer that land on the Upgrade symbol row will benefit from one of the following outcomes:

• Coins and Multipliers see the coin remain active for the next spin.
• Dynamite, Beer and Dwarf features become persistent which means they apply on all spins until the feature ends.

Dynamites can also activate the bottom row Collect Chests. They collect the values in the reel area to the corresponding column above on each spin.

Finally, the Lucky Wagon Spins feature ends when you fill all reel positions, run out of spins or have no active features remaining.

xBet

Like with many other Nolimit City games, there is an optional xBet feature. When enabled, you are guaranteed at least 1 Golden Nugget Bonus Scatter on the last inactive row on each spin. All dirt positions are removed from play with any buried features triggered as soon as they are on active reels.

Costing 2.5 times more per spin, the RTP rate rises to 96.09% (for the 96.07% RTP version). Triggering the Lucky Wagon Spins feature is more probable at 1 in 49 spins as opposed to 1 in 211 spins without it (these are average numbers).

The Fire in the Hole 2 slot is a sequel due to the original game being so popular. From an aesthetic perspective, the differences are subtle which will please fans of the first outing.

More extreme than the original, the action hinges on the Lucky Wagon Spins feature. With more enhancers, the feature can go mad. I particularly like the Dwarf who collects all coin values on all spins as well as the persistent dynamites. The key is to land Upgrade symbols though.

With 65,000 times bet max wins, the win potential is higher than the original (60,000 times bet). The max win probability in 1 in 17 million spins from the base game but your chances increase substantially from the Lucky Wagon Spins feature. If you trigger with more scatters, your chances increase further:
