The Serial slot is played on 5 reels, 3 rows and 243 ways to win (initially). Winning combos are formed when you land 3 or more matching symbols that land from left to right, beginning from the leftmost reel.

Nolimit City’s latest release is dark, to say the least! The grim and gory serial-killer-themed Serial slot focuses on the brutal character of the Bodycam Butcher. The butcher is on the loose, and the police are trying to track this monster down. The base game takes place in a bathroom which is the scene of a horrific crime. The 2 bonus games also take place in this grisly bathroom.  

When the game flips between the bonus rounds and base game, there are plenty of disturbing scenes, including a chainsaw and lots of blood.

The Enhancer Cells at the top and bottom of the reels all have the police crime scene do not enter tape across them while they remain locked. The blood on the final enhancer cells makes the game even more disturbing.

You’ll hear creepy music in the base game and during The Search bonus round, it speeds up slightly. Whereas during The Kill bonus round, it’s a sea of red with intense metal music booming in the background.

As you’d expect, the symbols in this game are all pretty grim, the lower-value symbols show a range of tools and equipment that the serial killer has used to murder his victims. The top character symbol is the Bodycam Butcher himself, with a detective working on the case also having a high value.

Enhancer Cells

The Enhancer Cells feature is a bonus feature found in other popular NLC titles such as San Quentin xWays. It’s triggered when a respin is awarded. Enhancer Cells are at the top and bottom of the grid, and the police tape shown in the screenshot below opens up when they are unlocked/opened. When they do, 1 of the following symbols land:

The Search

Landing 3 Scatter Symbols triggers The Search feature. This bonus starts off with the number of spins that the 3 symbols have on them. Once in, extra Enhancer Cells on reels 2, 3 and 4 open up. This sees a 3x5x5x5x3 setup which gives you 1,125 ways to win. Hitting an xSplit symbol on this bonus activates The Kill spins bonus feature.

The Kill

3 Scatters and 1 xSplit Symbol triggers The Kill bonus, The rules of The Search apply during The Kill with an extra bonus of having an xSplit Wild always present on the last reel, though it can move down or up.

xNudge Wild 

Here a stacked wild symbol will always nudge to become fully visible on the screen. Every nudge sees the multiplier increase by 1. The xNudge Wild only lands on reels 2, 3 and 4.

Infectious xWays

xWays symbols only appear in Enhancer Cells or can be transformed from a scatter. They reveal 2-4 symbols of the same kind and increase the number of ways to win. The revealed xWays symbol will infect all of the same normal-sized symbols on the 5×3 grid to expand to the same size.

xBizarre

Serial comes with an overall max win amount of 74,800 x the bet. However, the most winnable amount in the base or bonus round is 18,700 times your total bet. When this level is achieved, you have the chance to win the game's full potential via the xBizarre feature which is a gamble feature. Here there are up to 3 stages, where you make a 50/50 choice. Getting all of the choices correct awards you the 74,800x max win. However, if you get the choice wrong you still get to keep any previous winnings.

xBet

This feature is for players outside of the UK. It allows you to increase your chances of triggering one of the free spins bonus features. The cost is 20% more per spin, and you’re guaranteed a Missing Poster Scatter symbol on reel 2.

Nolimit Bonus

This serial-killer-theme certainly isn't for everyone, you could say it’s a bit of a marmite, but diehard NLC fans will love it. The Serial slot has a similar feel to Mental or Disturbed, which are both equally creepy and they also have the famed xSplit, xNudge and xWays features.

The xSplit feature adds a visually striking element as it slices through the grid in a menacing manner. The game's animations are top-notch, and the respins are particularly exciting as they unlock the Enhancer Cells. These were a standout feature for me, offering options like matching symbols, wild nudges that expand across the reel, increasing multipliers, and higher-paying symbols.

Max wins of 74,800 times your total bet is one of the highest I've seen in a while. It ranks as NLC’s 5th highest max win amount to date making it quite an impressive figure. To achieve this, you must navigate through the 3 stages of the xBizarre feature. 

With the max win probability at 1 in 12 million spins, you have a 1 in 1.4 million spins chance of winning 18,700 x bet from the base game. In The Search feature, you have a 1 in 256,000 spins chance of winning the max win whilst it's 1 in 16,000 spins in The Kill feature.
