Who Will Be The Next Rochdale Manager

Let's take a look at candidates to take over at Rochdale as the new manager and a little about them

Graham Alexander

Image: skysports

Nearly always quoted in the lower league manager markets is Graham Alexander. He has managed Fleetwood Town, Scunthorpe United, Salford City and Motherwell. In November 2023 he replaced Mark Hughes at Bradford City.

Nigel Adkins

Nigel Adkins (Bangor City, Scunthorpe, Southampton, Reading, Sheffield United, Hull City, Charlton Athletic) is often considered a safe pair of hands who can get results from wherever he manages.. He was the 2/1 second favourite to take over at Huddersfield Town in 2019 and was also linked to be the next Middlesbrough and Wigan boss when they dispensed with their respective managers, in September 2023 he stepped up to manage Tranmere Rovers.

Keith Hill

Having already managed 570 games for Dale it remains to be seen if he will return to Spotland.  He certainly got the club the results they were after with two promotions in 2010 and 2014. His last three positions at Bolton, Tranmere and Scunthorpe have all been much shorter in length lasting less than a season each.  His managerial career has also seen him  win 7 manager of the month awards.

Gary Jones

A hard working midfielder with an eye for goal, Gary Jones turned out over 450 times for Rochdale between 1998 and 2012.  He doesn't yet have football league managerial experience but his appointment may get the fans back onside.

27th March 2023
