Gary Bowyer18 Dec, 202419 Mar, 202591

The experienced Gary Bowyer has been appointed as the new Burton Albion manager. He replaces Mark Robinson, who had a nightmare start to the new campaign (PL11 W0 D4 L7) and was sacked in October 2024. The Nordic Football Group board has taken the time to find a new manager, and it must be hoped that they have the right man for the role. Burton Albion will be Bowyer's sixth club after spells at Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bradford City, Salford City, and Dundee. If yet another change takes place at the Pirelli Stadium the best betting sites  will have all the next Burton Albion manager odds.

Who Will Be The Next Burton Albion Manager

A list of the potential candidates should the Burton Albion job become available today based on previous people appearing in the betting odds when the position was vacant last time, to others who have a profile that would fit the club in terms of the last few managers they have had.

Jim McNulty

Appointed permanent Rochdale manager in March 2023 Jim McNulty is now towards the top of the next Burton Albion betting market.

Aged 39 he has been turning out as a player manager but has yet to choose himself this season (2024/25).

William Lundin

The current manager of Swedish side Degerfors IF has a growing reputation, this has catapulted the 32 year old into the next Burton manager betting market.

Fredrik Holmberg

Another Swedish manager who has also been linked to the Brewers is Fredrik Holmberg. He is currently in charge at GAIS who play their football in the Allsvenskan.

Dean Brennan

Irishman Brennan has managed a host of non league sides and is currently in charge at Barnet of the National League. His name has been in the frame for many EFL positions including most recently Swindon Town.

Tom Hounsell

When Mark Robinson was sacked in October, Hounsell became interim  Brewers manager. In a results-driven business, he needs to win games to stand any chance of being appointed permanently.

Mark Kennedy

Dublin born Kennedy was plying his trade at League Two Swindon Town until he was let go by the Robins in October 2024.

Gary Rowett

After four years at Millwall (2019-2023) Rowett left by mutual agreement and is now available for other management opportunities. Rowett played for Burton Albion (2005-2007) and then managed the Brewers (2012-2014) before moving to Birmingham City in the Championship. Since then, he has also had spells at Stoke City and Derby County.

Leam Richardson

Richardson guided Wigan Athletic to the League One Championship in 2022. Since those heady days, his managerial career has faltered.

The Latics let him go after just four months of the Championship season, and his subsequent appointment at Rotherham United lasted just 24 games.

Adam Hinshelwood

Former Brighton and Hove Albion player Hinshelwood is the manager at National League club York City.

He has yet to manage away from non-league football, but a club such as Burton Albion may give him the opportunity to step up.

John Coleman

After spending the majority of his managerial career at Accrington Stanley (1999-2012) & (2014-2024) John Coleman finally left the North West club.

Pete Wild

In May 2024, manager Pete Wild parted company with Barrow AFC, a position he had held since May 2022. Before joining Barrow, Wild had notable stints with Oldham Athletic and FC Halifax Town.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Burton fans need no introduction to Jimmy; he has served the club as manager twice. His first appointment (2014-2025) in the Brewers dugout saw the side win promotion from League Two; he returned in 2021 but could not recreate that achievement. In 2023 he was invited by England manager Gareth Southgate to help with the coaching of the national team.

Mark Bonner

After nearly four years and over 200 games at Cambridge United, Bonner was sacked in November 2023. In his first football manager position, he guided the U's to promotion from League Two in 2021. In the 2023-24 season, he found the League One campaign troublesome and, with the club in 18th place, was let go. In early May 2024 Bonner was appointed at League Two side Gillingham.

Gareth Ainsworth

Gareth Ainsworth managed Wycombe Wanderers for over ten years (2012-2023) before being lured away by a club he had played over 140 games for - Queens Park Rangers.

His time at ambitious QPR was a disaster, winning just five of twenty-eight games. In October 2023, he was sacked.

In November 2024 he was appointed Shrewsbury Town manager.

John McGrath

McGrath is remembered fondly by many Brewers fans, having played for the club over 200 times between 2007 and 2013; he was named their player of the year in 2008 and was part of the 2008-09 side that won promotion from the Conference and into League 2.

He moved into management at Mickleover, who play their football in the Southern League Premier Division. He has long been touted as a future Burton Albion manager.
