2025-26 EuroLeague Preview
The EuroLeague was established back in 1957 and originally went under the FIBA European Champions Cup name for the first thirty years of the tournament. It has been known as the EuroLeague since 2000.
The popularity of the league makes it the most popular basketball league outside of the NBA. During the 2024-25 season, games averaged 10,650 attendances, the highest indoor sport average attendance outside of the US.
We head into the 2025-26 season with Fenerbahçe as the reigning champions after having won their 2nd title last season; their only other title came back in 2017.
There used to be plenty of back-to-back winners; however, since 2015, that has only happened once (Anadolu Efes 2021 & 2022), so Fenerbahçe will have their work cut out to back up their championship.
The league has been expanded to 20 teams for the start of the 2025-26 season from 18. Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv & Valencia were promoted from the EuroCup, whilst Dubai Basketball were given a 5-year wild card, whilst ALBA Berlin dropped out of the tournament, opting to play in the Champions League instead.

When splitting the favourites at home and on the road, as you would expect, favourites with home court advantage tend to perform better. Over the last five season's the home favourites have a 71% win rate compared those 58% for those on the road.
