2027 EuroCup Preview
This basketball tournament was founded in 2002 as the ULEB Cup, which became the Eurocup in 2008 and then the current EuroCup in 2016.
The tournament features twenty teams and is the second tier of the European Basketball pyramid below the EuroLeague.
Cosea JL Bourg won the 2025-26 tournament, having beaten Beลiktaล Gain in the final last year. They have now been promoted to the EuroLeague.
That win for Bourg was their first-ever title in this tournament in their sixth year of playing in it. They had previously gone close, having been beaten finalists in 2024.

How often do Favourites win in the EuroCup?
Below are the favourite statistics for both when playing at home and when on the road. The home favourites had been in a steady decline over the last four seasons, from 73% winning during the 2020-21 season to 66% winning in 2023-24.
However, that did increase in 2024-25; in fact, last season was the highest win rate of home favourites when comparing the last five seasons, and the 2025-26 season wasn't too far off that with 73.44%.
In 2023-24, the favourites on the road saw a big jump from the previous two seasons, with 60% & 58% of favourites winning on the road in the previous two seasons; the 73% in 2023-24, although it has dropped for the past couple of seasons.
When you look at the overall numbers for the last five seasons, the favourites are fairly consistent as a whole with 67%, 67%, 69%, 72% & 72% of winning favourites throughout those seasons.
When comparing the EuroCup with the other two European tournaments, this tournament comes out as second best for winning favourites with 69.43% compared to the EuroLeague (67.12%) and the BCL (69.53%).

EuroCup Past Winners
The finals have differed over the years. From 2016 onwards, it has mostly been a best-of-3 series; however, in both the 2022 & 2023 finals, they were settled as single games, as you can see below.
Valencia last won the tournament in 2019, which was their fourth title; they are the most successful team in this tournament with their other wins coming in 2003, 2010 & 2014.
As well as Valencia, there are only two other clubs that have multiple wins in this tournament: Rytas won it in both 2005 & 2009, whilst Khimki won it in 2012 & 2015.

EuroCup Winners by Country
Spanish clubs have been the most successful in the EuroCup with a total of eight titles, as already mentioned, Valencia has recorded four of those, and the others have come from Real Madrid, Joventut Malaga and Gran Canaria.
The closest to them is Russia, who have five wins made up of Khimki (x2), Dynamo Moscow, UNICS & Lokomotiv Kuban. Only three other countries have multiple wins: France has three wins, whilst Turkey and Lithuania have two wins.
