2024 EuroCup Preview
This basketball tournament was founded in 2002 as the ULEB Cup which became the Eurocup in 2008 and then the current EuroCup in 2016, it features twenty teams and is the second tier of the European Basketball pyramid below the EuroLeague.
Paris won the 2023-24 tournament having beaten JL Bourg in the final last year in what was the first-ever all-French final, they have now been promoted to the EuroLeague with Valencia dropping down to replace them.

Valencia would have to be considered one of the top contenders for this season following their relegation and they will be looking to add to their previous four titles!

How often do Favourites win in the EuroCup?
Below are the favourite statistics for both when playing at home and when on the road, the home favourites have been in a steady decline over the last four seasons from 73% winning during the 2020-21 season to 66% winning last season.
Last season the favourites on the road saw a big jump from the previous two seasons, with 60% & 58% of favourites winning on the road in the previous two seasons, the 73% last season was a significant jump.
The 2020-21 was an abnormal season for winning favourites but when you look at the overall numbers for the other four seasons, they are fairly consistent as a whole with 69%, 67%, 67% & 69% of winning favourites throughout those seasons.
When comparing the EuroCup with the other two European tournaments, this tournament comes out best for winning favourites with 69.21% compared to the EuroLeague (67.12%) and the BCL (68.14%).

Below you can find the average number of points scored by the home team, the road team and the game averages for the last five seasons.
Last season was an above-average season all around in terms of points, the game average was 168.9 compared to the 164.4 average the previous season and looking back to the 2019-20 season which was only 158.0, you can see how much it has gone up.
The average number of game points over the last five seasons (162.9) is slightly higher when compared to the EuroLeague (159.8) and also the BCL (158.7).

EuroCup Past Winners
The finals have differed over the years, from 2016 onwards it has mostly been a best-of-3 series, however, in both the 2022 & 2023 finals they were settled as single games as you can see below.
Valencia last won the tournament in 2019 which was their fourth title, they are the most successful team in this tournament with their other wins coming in 2003, 2010 & 2014.
As well as Valencia, there are only two other clubs who have multiple wins in this tournament, Rytas won it in both 2005 & 2009 whilst Khimki won it in 2012 & 2015.

EuroCup Winners by Country
Spanish clubs have been the most successful in the EuroCup with a total of eight titles, as already mentioned, Valencia has recorded four of those and the others have come from Real Madrid, Joventut Malaga and Gran Canaria.
The closest to them is Russia who have five wins made up of Khimki (x2), Dynamo Moscow, UNICS & Lokomotiv Kuban. Only three other countries have multiple wins, with two being Turkey, France and Lithuania.
