You know how punters get lost in too much data or bet blindly? I break down the stats and trends so you can feel confident you’re betting with more than just gut instinct.

With the Cheltenham Festival just over 2 weeks away, punters up and down the land are gearing up with their form study in a bid to find some winners this year.
There are many great Blogs on this site, with differing insights to help punters out, over the week.
The vast majority of punters will be looking at past Cheltenham form and current form as their starting point.
There will also be plenty of talk about the top trainers and jockeys, who's previous records at the Festival are there to be gleaned over.
There will also be many trying to find winners using the different race trends, which can often help in reducing the number of horses in the race with what looks a better than average chance of winning.
Whichever path you take, will be down to each individual and the great thing about this game, is the differing views held by all.
This year I am going to try something a little different, something that most punters and bookies won't be having on their radar, for this Racing Festival and so with a bit of luck, it may find a couple of decent priced winners or placed runners during the week.
This is based on something I use during the Flat Turf season, which may not transfer readily over the jumps but this year, I thought I'd give it a trial and see how it performs.
The system revolves around the SIRES and the DAMS SIRES results over certain trips and at certain tracks.
So what I have done is take the COURSE CHARACTERISTICS of Cheltenham and compared them, as close as I can to the Flat tracks with similar characteristics and rank each of the Sires & Dams Sires into 3 categories.
These are total number of wins, highest win % and best for profit or ROI.
Once the runners are declared, I will go through each race and highlight any qualifiers, I would expect that this will mainly apply to those races run over hurdles, although there may be the odd one over fences.
