Lightly raced 7yo, first or second in 5 of his 8 hurdle races. Three runs this winter. Form 120. Excuses last time out. He was only beaten by a neck in his previous race in November, a 17-runner Grade 3 £57K handicap, and that form looks strong. He has every chance in this handicap.

A fairly trappy affair where there are holes to pick everywhere, but an unexposed sort will do for me here in Roaring Conquest. Third in a Grade 2 last season suggests a better horse than a 130 rating, and he’s gone well on two starts so far switched to handicaps. He lugged a fair weight round last time, so had a fair excuse. Back down to a kinder weight carry off the same mark could see him involved at the business end.

Has been slowly creeping back into form the last couple of runs and is looking like the horse he was earlier in his career. Conditions are fine, and he is capable of going close.

Ran on well close to home over 3 miles and nearest at the finish here when 3rd of 9 beat 1.5 lengths in a veterans race last time out. Eased 4 pounds in this company and should be staying on up the hill for place potential again.

Acknowledged as very competitive over 2m 7f to 3m, particularly in Class 2 and Class 3 handicap hurdles. He achieved two solid placements before falling in his penultimate start and was not at his best when finishing 7th in a competitive 3m handicap hurdle at Windsor earlier this month. However, he is still a respected competitor over this trip and will be ridden by Ben Macey, who has successfully navigated him to recent high placements. The 25/1 odds seem promising for an each-way wager.
