Maelstrom was unplaced in his first two starts last season and was a well-beaten 3rd at Redcar on his last start in October. He has, though, looked like a different horse now handicapping, winning at Yarmouth and under a penalty over course and distance within 4 days last month. He is up 6 lbs and up in class but must have a great chance of bringing up the hat trick.

The 3yo has 1 win from 6, getting off the mark three weeks ago - never in trouble when winning his maiden race. He has been a runner-up in three races, the form looks solid, likes the quicker ground and his opening handicap mark looks handy. More to come from this one.

3yo irish filly Persian Force has won 2 of her 3 career runs and I think she will be happy to be back on turf even though she won her last visit on the AW at Kempton. Should be even sharper on 2nd run after a 214 day break and go close here under Joe Leavy.

THE FLYING SEAGULL has won a race at 6f. Fifth over 6f at Chester on his latest outing earlier this month. Course, distance, and going should suit. Seems well treated and could well be able to win this race.

Three runner-up finishes in the last six runs for Bonnie’s Boy, and I am backing there is a win in the three-year-old. There is ability there, and today’s task at Haydock looks like a handicap Bonnie’s Boy can win.

A progressive horse with form figures of 212 and from the shrewd John Quinn stable. A lot of the runners the same price and even less than him have had 5-6 runs and look more exposed. Has run on good to firm and could really shine in this handicap and looks massive.

Take an EW chance as well here on 3yo irish gelding Line Of Force. He has dropped to a dangerous mark 12lbs below his last winning mark from last December. Returned to a bit of form lto at at Windsor and makes his first run for new trainer Gemma Tutty here today. Booking of Daniel Tudhope catches the eye and he could be good for a little surprise here.

Mu Mu Land won a 9-runner maiden at Newcastle in October, showing very clear promise but followed up with a run under a penalty and found it tougher. He has been gelded since the last run and has been off the track for some time, so this may help him calm down better than last time and squeak an EW place.
