Santorini Star heads to Goodwood today after a commanding win at Brighton last month, where she stayed on strongly over 1m2f. She’s stepping up to 1m4f now, which should suit her running style. With a mark of 89 and a good draw, she’s got a solid shot at following up.

This could well be fought out between the top 2 in the market and 5/1 looks superb value for a stable that have brought horses over from Ireland to win this race twice in 4 years. Clearly that's a tip in itself and the horse took a massive leap forward when winning with something in hand on debut for the trainer last time out. Clearly the horse appears to have improved by a fair few pounds for the switch in stable and there could be much more to come now.

Meribella is a horse who seems to go well after a break, so she could be near her best on her first run of the season. Top weights have a good chance at Goodwood over further than a mile due to the undulating and turning track, meaning the horses don't go at a strong gallop throughout the race. She is not the biggest but is very game.

I've been keeping an eye on Orchard Keeper since her second to odds-on favorite on her second outing. She duly obliged just the once but has been the model of consistency with four places from five races since the win. Both trainer and jockey have been in good form lately, with Roger Varian having 5 wins and 5 places from the last 10 runners and Jack Mitchell riding 8 winners and 4 places from his last 30 rides.

Bas Bleu won at the start of this month, and although up 4 lbs for that, the step up to C3 puts her well light amongst today's runners and worth a chance EW.

A 3-time winner from 10 career starts who won twice last year, including over this 1m4f trip at Ripon last August. Has gone close in both starts this year, finishing a close second over this trip at Ripon and Kempton. Should run another big race today for a stable in good form.

Overture is the outsider in this field and clearly required his initial run last time out. Cheekpieces have been refitted and could take a big step forward in this contest.
